We let ourselves down, we shot ourselves in the foot - good cliches aren't they.
Speaking to the Official Site after that total embarrassment McLeish said.
'It was unbelievable, frightening. After such a good performance the confidence and morale was really high and we went and shot ourselves in the foot. It was so disappointing to see us take three positive steps forward and then to take steps back.'
So we can expect changes for the next game then, picking a team based on merit, and not sticking with players who continually let us down...not likely is it?
Afterall, following the talk of possibly resting players, he rotated sensibly for this one didn't he. Given the effort and the application shown today shall we go with the theory the players were tired as opposed to celebrated the Chelsea win too much?
'I did contemplate changes, but we don't have too many options to change the team. I really did feel the morale and feel good factor would be enough to get through. I don't think it was a mistake. Making the errors we did was the problem for us.'
All that said, even Jack Grealish is defending McLeish, saying it's time the players took some responsibility. Been waiting for that all season so far, McLeish surely can't be still waiting for that to happen from the serial disappointments in the first team.

YOU LET US DOWN YOU STUPID STUPID MAN.
We all (or at least most of us) criticised MON for freezing players out, well in this case I would support certain players being frozen out even if they are the best on their possition as their attitude is having a negative effect on the whole squad, not just their own performance (as if that alone was not bad enough)
McLeish needs to single out those that he doesn't want to use and either ship them out or if that's not an option, bannish them to the reserves until they can show an improvement in attitude and commitment. He may then be able to bring in some players of his own too. The remaining players should be those that he can work with, guide and motivate.
If he then fails to win but gets them playing acceptable football then he's done all we can reasonably ask of a manager, the team will be playing to the potential of teh talent available, if he failes to get them playing "his way" then the problem is most definately with the manager not the players.
