Barry Bannan Suspended

It is being reported that Barry Bannan has been suspended by the club whilst an internal investigation looks at the weekends drink driving/crash incident.

Alex McLeish told the press on Monday the 21 year old, who has been bailed along with his mate (Shrewsbury striker James Collins) following their arrest for suspected drink driving that the player is not available for selection v Sunderland.

Shame, but not really any other option.

Just another reminder, it is all an IF until proven.

Hopefully this will be sorted and he`ll come back from this and put his focus where it should be, his career.

Hopefully he will learn from this, the Club have done the correct thing, like most players Bannon is a role model especially to the young. There can be no excuse for drink driving, it is just not on in this day and age. I wonder how long he will be banned from playing? what is acceptable? even though he has not been found guilty by the Courts. Is he to be banned again if and when he is found guilty? COTVABU

Silly boy! The Villa have done the right thing.... I dont care how good he's been (or thinks he's been lately) I'm sick of footballers thinking they can do whatever they bloody well like!!!

Hopefully this cloud will have a silver lining and Bannan will use his undoubted talents to bring the rest of his game, attitude, awareness, teamwork etc. up to standard. We will get to see what the team can do without passing to him and hoping for a goal from Hollywood passes and shots from way outside the box also!!! He will either mature quickly or go the same way as Moore senior and the legendary (for a season) Dalian.

I'd fine him the maximum possible fine, and then let him continue... hopefully he's learned from the experience and doesn't do it again. Coming in to training sobre will hopefully make him the world class player we know is in there too!

Xavi and Iniesta are world class, Barry Bannan is not.

I honestly hate the way the media interfere with footballers private lives, im not saing drink driving is ok its most definetly not especially when footballers could afford to get a ferrari to taxi them home, I just really don't think it has anything to do with football its the same as the John Terry crap, I don't like the man but him cheating on his wife has notghing to do with his professional carrer, could you imagine being fired at work casue you cheated on your wife or got caught drink driving...ridiculas

If you ask me he should be kicked out. The fact that he could afford a ferrari to taxi him home makes it even worse. How stupid can you get? I have no sympathy for drink drivers, especially ones that can afford a freekin chauffer. I dont care how good he thinks he is, hes an idiot.

Actually Kerry if I got banned from driving I could very well get sacked from work, and if not sacked it would seriously damage my career. Bannan like all players is an ambassador of the club at all times and as an adult and a proffessional should conduct himself accordingly. Some jobs don't have responsibility and as a consequence they don't pay well, others have huge rewards. Bannan needs to decide which type he wants and quickly.
