'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Players Not Fazed By City Challenge

Alex McLeish has claimed the players are in a confident mood ahead of the Etihad trip and our aim is to return to Brum unbeaten.

Speaking to the Official Site the big Eck said.

'City are one of the favourites for the title, but we are in a confident moment and if the players play to their top level, and we can make it difficult for City, then you never know what can happen in football.'

Adding that neither he nor the players were daunted by the task, he continued.

'We are certainly not fazed by it, we don't look on it as a daunting task, we look on it as a great challenge. We want to come back from the Etihad Stadium unbeaten. That is our goal, our aim.'

Confident words ahead of the clash, but I doubt anybody has many positive feelings to be honest.

AV seem to be becoming draw specialists... not something a club wants to be to be honest, though better than loss specialists! Anyhow, I think a point against City would be a good point.
Cape Town Spurs
Not gonna get a draw sorry but its true, we're gonna play hoofball and give the ball back every time we get it for a second and City know this so will pressure us high up the field, if the likes of newcastle can get 23 shots on us then this game is gonna be a disaster unless ECK finally realises that the way to win games or even not lose is to actually have the ball LOL

A Draw would be brilliant, I think it will be more like 2 or 3-0 I just hope do not perform like last season at Eastlands. COTVABU

If there is a match where the Eck needs to get them "up" from the first whistle and not from half time, this is it!

I may sound daft (as i really am ;) but its 11v11 and city didnt smash swansea 6 etc so with a great dunney monster and ginge performance with given on form we may sneak a draw or dare i even imagine the unthinkable and get slaughtered and win! i did think we would lose but we are the city reserves these days they know that ground and players well remember! ok let the slaughtering commence ;)

Well I certainly dont expect us to surrender, roll over and allow our opponents to tickle our tummies, and freely have with gay abandon, their wicked way with us, as was the case on the two visits to Manchester City during the 2010-11 campaign. Two performances I wish that I could erase from the memory, as no doubt would the other Villans who were unfortunate enough to make the trips to the Etihad Stadium in support of the claret and blues. Abysmal offerings from our troops, both efforts a disgrace to the name of AVFC. No, hopefully this version of AVFC, the Alex McLeish outfit, will be made of sterner stuff, compete for the ninety minutes plus, and no matter what the eventual outcome, we shall be able to return to dear old Brum with heads held high. Come On You Lions!!
glensider
Clive Im with you I think we will sit so deep that city will have 80% of the ball and play too high up the pitch so the pace of Gaggy will be a real weapon on the break imo 1-1 or a lucky 2-1 villa.
aston79
Will go with you on that Glensider not expecting miracles but would like to see the team put in a blood and guts performance even if we lose. Clive mate pour me one of what your having if it happens i will pour myself half a dozen lol.UTV.

LOL merlin,
ClivetheVillan
aston79, glensider its nice to see a bit of beleif from fellow villans to be honest, city have gotta earn the points and as glensider states as long as we put up a fight the outcome doesnt really matter as it will not determine our season at all!
ClivetheVillan
Admire your possitivity Clive and understand where your coming from with Swansea but their is a big difference as swansea actually play football and can keep possesion which we can't or won't, really hope your right and we can defend for 90 mins and who knows if we can then Gabby on the break can hurt the Man C defence.
