The Bells Are Ringing For Villa Fans April 4

The Bells Are Ringing For Villa Fans April 4

The 12th man campaign is gathering pace, no matter what fans think of team selection, manager and our current position, we remain the one constant and have to be the vocal ones to support the team during this dog fight we are in. If we roar them on maybe, just maybe, that will speed up the day we can breath more easily and know we are safe!

Part of that has been the fan led campaign to get the wonderful old song The Bells Are Ringing back and Villa Park rocking as it used to with the song.

Want to be part of history? Then come down to Villa on Monday April 4th to help sing parts of the song for the recorded version (to be played when the players enter the pitch).

Show up at the Holte End, many are meeting in The Holte (the pub, formerly know as the Holte Hotel) between 5pm - 5:30pm.

Then at 6ish it will be fan participation time!

It is crucial to point out this IS fan led... not the club dictating or trying to introduce a song. This was sung many times down in the pubs before Wembley last year and now it is time for it (and others in time we hope!) to return to Villa Park and on our travels. It would be superb if you could be there to help us all realise this mission and to get the song truly rocking. It will be even better if we all then make sure it catches on during games home and away. This is OUR song... lets get it back!

The bells are ringing for the claret and blue
Claret and blue (chanted)
Claret and blue (chanted)
The fans are singing for the claret and blue
Claret and blue (chanted)
Claret and blue (chanted)
Everybody is knowing, To the Villa they`re going
Where the Villa are showing
We`re the best in the land
Best in the land (chanted)

We`re congregating for the claret and blue
Claret and blue (chanted)
Claret and blue (chanted)
The fans are singing for the claret and blue
Claret and blue (chanted)
Claret and blue (chanted)
And today we`re gonna score a goal or two, or three or more
At Villa Park, for the claret and blue
Claret and blue (chanted)
Claret and blue (chanted)

SPREAD THE WORD FOLKS... feel free to post this on other sites / facebook / twitter etc

It's a great idea, I remember when I started going to AV back in the 60's and it was sung then but seemed to be overtaken when like a lot of club supporters we copied Liverpool's anthem and it never really took off. Since then we have had to endure quite a lot of stick from SHA supporters claiming we had no anthem because we never sang it even though I alluded them to the song! However it would be great to have it univesally approved and sung by us all (we sang it at Wembley too - well on the Tube to the ManU supporters - I don't think they had heard it before either!) I would like to know when it was introduced and by whom to AV - any historians out there?

Come On!!! Lets have some bloody atmosphere down villa park that ISNT negative. 'The Bells are Ringing' is the best villa song by a country mile and its a travesty it's never heard. Not sure what that last verse is all about though. The new villa song apperas to be 'The city is ours' which mellody is sang (with various differnt lyrics) by loads of different clubs. The Bells are Ringing is our anthem. Lets get it back in the vocal chords of the best (at times, when we want to be, remember Tranmere?) fans on the planet. Come On!!!!!!!!
