Gabby Wants To Continue Muscling In!

Interesting snippet in The Guardian from Gabby Agbonlahor who was advised to muscle up by Martin O`Neill and to lose some of the bulk by Gerard Houllier !

Houllier said:

"The fact is I think he's too stocky. I have told him to lay off the weights. Sometimes the players do too much. The Gabby I saw when I was watching TV in France was different to what I see here. He was thinner, more wiry and, wow, quick.'

Gabby answered:

"I can see where the manager is coming from, of course, but I think I was the same last season and that was my best season at Villa. I think maybe if I trimmed down and became how I was when I first broke into the team then I might lose an element to my game. If I start to get bullied by defenders people will then say I am not strong enough for the Premier League so you can`t win either way. But it is about getting that balance. I feel fine and as sharp and fast as I ever have."

No real issue here, only thing that is a worry is that it is being brought up through the press but even then, this has happened before and isn`t exactly a major argument is it?!

Remember John Gregory telling the press David Ginola was fat and then Ginola scored a goal, ran to half way line, took off his top and flexed his muscles?

I lifted my top and shouted to JG 'this is fat' (he laughed as he was a proper bloke, he'd give it out and take it, proper banter)

Ginola broke about 35 000 men's hearts that day, if that was fat we were all totally in the shite! LOL

After watching Gabby have more game time, I like the way he can hold up the ball, defenders find him a nightmare, his just lost abit of pace but that could be lack of game fitness.
Blitz
Nice to see Gabby ''Compromise'' and work with a new manager rather than argue with the boss and refuse to play.

personally i couldn't give a hoot if we had the fattest striker in the world or the skinniest, so long as they start to score goals, or am i missing the point?

Just score a few, Gabby. We need you now more than ever.

sounds like press just trying to start more trash. I rate gabby, but he's not naturally big and i like he's doing something about it. but ultimately he needs better support. either a strike partner or betting delivery from the midfield.

better delivery... sorry folks.
