Heskey Likely To Miss Man City Trip

After picking up an injury in yesterday's loss to Spurs, Emile Heskey is unlikely to figure against Manchester City.

Houllier was set to check on his fitness today although there have been no reports so far on either the severity or lack thereof of the ankle injury sustained when Gomes took him out, so maybe silence is good news in this case.

Speaking to the press, Houllier said:

'We lack a bit of presence in front of goal at times, we missed that after we lost Emile. He twisted his ankle when the goalkeeper fouled him. I don't think he will be fit for the Man City game now.'

(quotes from the E&S

Hopefully Emile won't be out for another length of time as we certainly look a different proposition when Emile is hassling defenders. I thought Delboy did very well when he replaced him but with Gabby still off the pace we have no physical presence up front and given Carew seems to have 'toys and pram' again we will seriously miss Heskey if this leads to another lengthy lay off.

career blighted by injuries, shame we could do with a fit Heskey at the moment.
The Fear
I thought he started very well yesterday until he went off. Does look a total different player under houllier one of the positives of his appointment.

Shall I start it off? John Carew Carew .....

hes sh**er than me and you?

Rather see James Collins withdrawn from Burton and pushed upfront! At least we'd have an honet player.

astvil carew is awful, he is lazy and this season has put no effort in at all. The quicker he is off our wade budget the better.

I'm glad I don't work for some of you guys. In all my years at VP [over 50] I can honestly say that I have only ever seen one Villa player that was only interested in his wage packet ................. and it wasn't Carew. For me he is a young man wholly lacking in confidence. Remember Gigi swapped him for Milan Baros. BAROS for god's sake. So obviously Gigi doesn't rate him. Not only that but Gigi has said publicly that Carew is not good enough. How would you feel if that happened to you at work? Would that make you work harder? Put more effort in? Thought not. If I were in Carew's shoes I would be thinking, 'No matter what I do nothing is going to please this bloke.' Gigi is doing the same thing with Richard Dunne. The man has no idea on how to get the best out of his players. If we need a replacement for Heskey it has to be JC.
