Board And Manager On Same Transfer Page

Gerard Houllier and the Board are on the same page when it comes to January transfer deals, and will meet again after the Cup clash to finalise any moves they wish to make.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail Houllier said that he meets with the board pretty much every week as a matter of course, and whilst we look to promote the youth Houllier knows it makes no sense to fill the squad with players who would block their progress unless they could make a serious impact in terms of improving our first 11.

'We have got a bunch of young players and if you want to give young players a chance you need at some stage to play them more. I don't want to buy players who would be overloading our staff.'

As for ironing out any details, as Houllier has said all along he wants to focus on the run of games we have until the Sheffield United clash, and then he plans to sit down with the board again to have further discussions.

'We will talk about that more after the Cup game. I am focused on the games at the moment.'

Most moves will no doubt take place in the summer, although you would expect a good few to be moving on in January to help sort out our wage issue.

Going to be an interesting month that's for sure.
