'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Houllier Confirms Sidwell Medical

After numerous rumours the last week, Gerard Houllier has apparently confirmed that Steve Sidwell is having a medical with Wet Spam.

Quotes from ESPN suggest sidwell will be West Ham's first signing of the January window although there is no mention or suggestion of the fee involved, however it's unlikely to be anywhere near the sum paid (assuming there is any fee) given his contract runs out in the summer.

'Steve is having a medical, he's at the end of his contract next summer.'

Houllier also adds that he believes Wolves were interested, but Sidwell's London living makes Wet Spam the obvious choice.

'It's not a secret that he lives in London, otherwise I think Wolves would have been interested in signing him.'

Sidders never quite regained the form he showed initially at Reading, and we only ever saw flashes of the player we thought he could be. He still had those trademark runs into the box but we never seemed to find him and after his initial spell where it looked like he would click, his form seemed to get slowly worse and he was for the most part anonymous on the pitch.

Shame as he was one player I was really looking forward to finding his form.

Stourbridge Villan
Great news sidwell is going! Worst midfield player I have seen down the villa.

I've definitely seen worse Shane, but he never hit the form we were all hoping for so I'm partly with Stourbridge here. Could've all been so different if he'd knocked a couple of his early chances away and gone on a roll with the confidence that would've brought.
