Aston Villa Transfer Links Hotting Up!

Massive losses due for previous transfers! Daily Star

The Daily Mail claim that Spurs winger/midfielder David Bentley would prefer a move to either Villa or Fulham with Everton seemingly out of the running.

Sky Sports claim that Villa (and Fulham) might get David Bentley on loan.

The Daily Mail now have Everton at the head of the queue for Stephen Ireland. Apparently The Toffees want him on loan.

Werder Bremen are again being linked with defender Curtis Davies.

Sky Sports are the latest to link us to Middlesbrough defender David Wheater. This would make sense, he is young and would be available for a fairly low price as he could leave Boro on a free next summer as he will turn 24.

Joey Barton in loyalty shocker? The player, linked to a £1.5million move to Villa, has said he is worth more than that and that he`d like to end his career at Newcastle United. Full report in The Daily Mail

The Daily Mail say that Villa might be in the market for loans this winter as 'financial reality hits home` however from the managers quote, I can`t see where he says that other than he is open to anything this Jan. Some loans wouldn`t be a bad thing anyway, the summer will be the major spending (and exit) time surely?

Gerard Houllier has told Sky Sports , amidst speculation that keeper Brad Friedel is about to be sold, that they will talk to him about his future. See: Houllier Confirms Villa Looking At Keeper Options

More reports that Steve Sidwell is on the verge of a move to West Ham.

In a way I'd prefer loan players as the quality of players for sale in January in suspect and we don't want to end up with more expensive tat on long contracts

be great if we could use the Sidwell deal to get first option on Parker in the summer

Selling Davies at a loss and signing Wheater is just mental if you ask me. Davies was awesome next to Laursen and was rushed back to soon after his shoulder injury.
