Interview With A Spurs Fan

Interview with OxfordSpur from >>Vital Spurs<<

1) So how are you finding the Champions League and how much of a distraction do you think it might prove league wise?

The Champions league has been fantastic and everything I could have hoped for. As yet it is still massively exciting compared to the established sides who I feel now take the competition for granted. As for a distraction, I think we have done quite well, winning four and drawing two of our eight games following CL games (inc the two qualifier games). Defeats to Wigan(H) and Bolton (A) were poor performances, but whether that was a CL reaction, I`m not sure.

2) You seem to be picking up some very handy wins and if not the 3 points, you are getting draws. What was the booing the team about recently that seemed to get Harry so annoyed?

In a league where everyone seems a little more inconsistent than usual, we are doing okay, though we do seem to have a mix of getting draws from wins and wins from defeats, great viewing for a neutral, but it does nothing for my blood pressure.

3) Harry Redknapp said you could win the league, do you agree?

We could, but we won`t, and I think that Harry would privately agree on that. All the top sides are struggling for consistency and are dropping points they would usually expect to win easily, but we are still part of the chasing pack and just to be in a position where we can be considered as contenders is a great achievement. For me getting a top four place again would be brilliant.

4) Which of your players do you think will be sold this January?

If offers come in, I can certainly see us selling Robbie Keane, David Bentley and Giovani dos Santos, while Jamie O`Hara will probably go on loan to gain fitness and perhaps either earn himself a squad place or one in the shop window in the summer. Perhaps a few others such as Niko Kranjcar or one of Crouch or Pavlyuchenko would be sold, but that would very much depend on incoming players.

I don`t think it would be wise to make wholesale changes as that could disrupt the side as much as strengthen it, but if sensible offers come in for players that aren`t in Harry plans, I think he would take the money and worry about it being a problem later.

5) Do you think you`ll be in the hunt for any players in the transfer window, if so who / what sort of player?

I don`t see too many players coming in, regardless of how many go out. I expect to see us look for players who offer flexibility of role and can perhaps fit into several positions or formations. I think we will seriously look at bringing in a central midfielder, with someone like Scott Parker a very sensible target and also Steven Pienaar from Everton. Both players would cost no more than £10m combined, so I don`t expect us to be spending big, unless we can persuade someone to sell us a superstar striker in the middle of the season, which I doubt, but stranger things have happened...

6) All the links to Ashley Young. Would you want him?

I think he is a magnificent player, but I wonder if the opportunity will have passed, should we sign a player like Pienaar, especially as he would be so much cheaper. With Van der Vaart, playing in the hole behind the main striker and the likes of Lennon and possibly Pienaar as similar attacking options to Young, I wonder if it is simply something that would have been great, but the time has passed.

7) What do you make of the league this year and are you surprised to see Villa so low at the moment?

As a fan it is a fantastic and entertaining league, with so few guaranteed results at the moment. Villa are lower than I expected to be honest, but with their injuries it has been tough, I am far from convinced about Houllier as a man to take you forward and I am still a little baffled as to why he got the job. I won`t totally write him off as a manager until I see what he does in the window, but for me he needs either a lot of money or a good imagination and I`m not sure he has either.

8) Not sure I`m looking forward to freezing my ahem.... to be cold on Boxing Day, do you see this as a must win for Spurs or would a draw be acceptable?

I have decided not to make the trip this year as I have already been snowed in for four days and more snow is forecast, so I am sitting tight until the new year. Let`s be honest a draw at Villa Park is always a decent result, but I think we need to look to win wherever possible and on current form I can see us getting 3 pts.

9) What is your prediction?

3-1 to Spurs and very merry Christmas to you all :o)

I can see a win for spurs, no doubt about it that the champions league have pushed them on to the next level. If we take out bale and VDV'S hoof into crouch or pavluchenko then we could get the win but lets see.
P.Avfc
Hoof? a) a cross from a wide possition is not a hoof b) VDV scored both goals against you so could not have been the hooffie anyway c) pot/kettle.....hoof up top to Heskey for your goal sound familiar?
MJBSpur
Come on Spuddy.. Both your goals were knockdowns from Crouch there's no denying, good ones too. In any case don't get so over protective, we looked good for a chunk of that game and you still beat us well, be happy
PTP
If you play Pieenar and Lennon would you drop Bale to the bench then?! lol
leelindsay
MJB didn't albrighton cross the ball to heskey? Hmmmmmm. And im sure a 25 yard ball into the box is a long ball, i have saw this from spurs many times and you score from it, not sayin its a bad thing am i? Just sayin we have to stop your long ball.
P.Avfc
PTP no denying they were both knockdowns from Crouch but there is a difference between a cross into the box and and ugly hoof up field.
MJBSpur
lol P.Avfc. If the ball comes in from the wing its called a cross if its played long from your own half up to heskey (no "cross" from Albrighton) it could be dubbed a Hoof.
MJBSpur
VDV did not cross the ball from the wing, he hoofs it from a central position so you must watch different games to me.
P.Avfc
P.Avfc, VDV is the one scoring from all of Crouches knockdowns so please enlighten as to how the hell he "hoofs" it up field to Crouch and then arrives in the box to get on the end of Crouches knock down?? In my opinion Crouch is ***** and the only reason he's got the assists he has (apparently making up for his lack of goals according to him) is because Bale, Lennon and Pav on the villa occasion have been sticking it on his head with pinpoint CROSSES. Seems u don't even pay attention to ur own games let alone all of ours!
MJBSpur
What makes you think im on about the villa vs spurs game? I have seen spurs hoof it several times into the box this season. Im not questioning it im saying that we have 2 stop the spurs HOOOOOOFF!!
P.Avfc
I would be happy for Villa to hoof the ball all season aslong as we get the win im happy! Im going for a Villa win 3v1! We are mighty strong at home, Im trying to get tickets = We havnt lost a game Ive been to at VP!!! Expect 3points if I turn up :D
Blitz
Oh every game Ive been to, theres been a goal in 90mins so I might leave early if were winning.
Blitz
Thats this season only^ Both post.

How many European cups you won Spurs Fan? A guy on your othersite claims you have won 3! CLueless!
leelindsay
Leelindsay, read this and then please shut up cause you are embarrassing yourself: Tottenham Hotspur were the first club in the 20th century to achieve the League and FA Cup Double, winning both competitions in the 1960–61 season. In 1963 they became the first British club to win a major European trophy—the European Cup Winners' Cup.[1] In the 1970s, they won the League Cup on two occasions and were the inaugural winners of the UEFA Cup in 1972 (becoming the first British club to win two different major European trophies). In the 1980s Spurs won several trophies: the FA Cup twice, FA Community Shield and the UEFA Cup 1983–84. In the 1990s, they won the FA Cup and the League Cup. In 2008 they won the League Cup once more, meaning that they have won a trophy in each of the last six decades—an achievement only matched by Manchester United. You've havent one ANYTHING for 15 years and just for the record Nottingham Forest won the "champions league" twice.....are they still a good team??
MJBSpur
HOOOF HOOOFFF!
P.Avfc
Lol P.Avfc. We'll see how much hoofing goes on on boxing day ;-)
MJBSpur
Yes by VDV and the co. HOOOF HOOOF!!
P.Avfc
Name one game where VDV has "hoofed" anything. lol You might have an argument if you said Dawson or prehaps BAE. Silly clueless child.
MJBSpur
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOF!!!!
