Richard Dunne And Dusted At Villa?

Richard Dunne And Dusted At Villa?

James Nursey of The Mirror says 31-year-old Richard Dunne is now seen as Villa`s fourth choice centre back. Big come down having moved for £5million last year and winning the Villa players` player of the season. Obviously the defence has leaked far too many goals this season having been so mean last season and if this report is right, you would expect the player to be looking for a Villa Park exit?

It already doesn`t look good for Dunney as he had an argument with Gerard Houllier and clashed with Gary MCAllister over training. James Nursey does however say the club have denied the clashes.

Apparently he is now even behind Ciaran Clarke (as well as Carlos Cuellar) which makes sense if we are building for the future. The report does mention that Dunne might be difficult to move on as his wages are high (£52k) and he has a 2 1/2 years left on his current deal.

Football is a funny old game though, only takes an injury and a change in attitude by the player to maybe get back in there? I wonder if they are half tempted to bring back Curtis Davies for another try? Probably not.

Amazing the difference a year has made to our defence though, it was so very solid last year and now looks like four separate parts with no understanding at all.

His head's gone at villa... he'll not resurrect his form unless houllier leaves. I can't see Houllier leaving before Dunnie does.

you dont go from our best defender to fourth choice its just he's totally out of shape and had a paper thin midfield in front of him most games.

things can turn around quickly, just needs to get his head sorted, you can't become a bad player over night, he has been poor this season but he can sort that.

Still think Curtis can be a better defender and I'll be gutted if we let him go without another try. When he was playing alongside Laursen regularly all that time ago he looked a proper player.

The reason Dunne has gone from a world beater to absolute tosh is because I put him in my fantasy football team! I will remedy the situation as soon as I can remember my password and watch him return to being a rock at the back and scoring at the other end.

he's just turned back into what he was at City, shame because I thought perhaps I'd got him all wrong after the way he played last season .

To be fair I reckon I'd look like a proper player playing alongside Laursen!
