Tom Hopkinson of The People say that Manchester United will test the resolve of Aston Villa and bid £20million for Ashley Young.
With just one year left on his contract, what should Villa do, let the player who put contract negotiations on hold to concentrate on his football run down his contract and go with no value at all? Or sell at the best price, which realistically due to the timing would be around £20million I would guess?
Players hold all the power, no matter how angry you or me get at our Club 'allowing` them to leave, the balance of power is pathetic in the game now (thanks to this mad Bosman ruling) and they can move from club to club whenever they throw their dummy out of the pram and choose to.
Football really has gone up its own arse since the start of the Premier League and the SKY money, not to mention top four qualification for a so called 'champions league` and the silly money by Chelsea and now Manchester City... I digress...!
Spurs, Liverpool and Manchester City have all also been linked.

Another link, this time in the ever reliable, cough, News of the World says that West Ham want Steve Sidwell. I`m sure we all agree, they can have him, he`s been woeful (apart from his great debut goal up at Wigan) since he joined us from Chelsea. Tara a bit Sidders, thanks for the lack of effort! I believe this is reported to be a loan until the end of Sidders contract and then he can sign with them permanently. Makes sense as I can`t see him ever getting near our first team again.
Small mention in NotW that we want Momo Sissoko from Juventus, others also linked including Fenerbahce and Atletico Madrid. Older link to him: 25-year-old Juventus midfielder Momo Sissoko Click Here
And I`ve saved the very worst until last.
Take a deep breath....
Alan Nixon of The People has an article linking us with Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton. NO.... simply just NO. We need a tough midfield general and he is that at times but he can`t control himself on or off the pitch and is surely not the sort of player we would want at Villa Park?
We were linked with him before and I remember saying how much this would stretch my support, I`d be quite happy for the first time in my life to openly boo a player in claret and blue. I have no time for this lad, he`s had a chance, a second chance and now is onto about his sixth chance. He will never learn and will bring this club into disrepute just like he has the others he has played for.
