Three Return But The Young One's Are Out

This week has seen the return to light training of Petrov, Sidwell and Delph but both Young's are ruled out of the Wigan game.

Speaking on the Official Site Houllier confirmed that Ashley had strained his medial ligament and would definitely be out of the clash against Wigan, but was hopeful that he would be back in time for the Spurs game.

'It is a blow that Ashley won't be playing. He's got a strained medial ligament - grade 1 - so hopefully we will get him back for the game against Tottenham.'

With regards to the elder Young, Luke will still be missing for today's game with his groin injury.

Now that the bad news is out the way, time for some good...

Gabby is available after recovering from his chest infection, and Fabian Delph, Steve Sidwell and Stiliyan Petrov have all returned to light training.

Admittedly they are no where near match fitness so you wouldn't expect any of them to be involved, even on the bench, until the New Year but it's definitely good news that they are back on the training pitch so to speak.

'Gabby had a full week of training and did extremely well. The three positive signs are Fabian, Stiliyan and Steve.

'Fabian trained with us a couple of times this week. Stiliyan is not ready but within two weeks he could be competitive again. Steve should be okay very soon.'
