'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jonathan Hogg Happy As A Pig In ****

This season has been a delightful time for young Hoggy so far, and he's been loving every minute of it.

Speaking on the Official Site ahead of the game against Wigan, Hoggy said he was loving the reputation he's slowly earning as a midfield terrier who isn't afraid to put his foot in but overall he's just 'loving every minute of playing for Villa.'

He knows life is now about to get more difficult in terms of keeping his place with people returning from injury but he's more than ready to fight for his place now.

'My goal is just to keep playing as many games as I can for Villa. I've loved every minute of it, to play in front of as many fans as we do is great. Obviously at the start of the season when I played in Vienna I didn't think I'd be playing in the Premier League, Carling Cup and Europa League in one season. So I am a bit surprised but I'm loving every minute of it.'

Hogg admits he's not setting any targets for this season outside of playing as often as he can, but he would however like his career to emulate a schoolboy idol of his. A certain Mr Keane.

'Roy Keane was one of my heroes - I loved watching him play and with his aggression. He was brilliant to watch. I'd love to go on and follow him. To win the games and the trophies and the medals he has, I'd be happy to achieve half of what he has.'

If Hoggy can turn out to be half as good as Keane we'll have a little diamond on our hands.

I hope that doesn't mean that he wants to play for MUTD.

Hoggy-Hoggy-Hoggy, Aye, Aye, Aye (Remember when it was Hockey, Hockey, Hockey? Yes, of course you dont, well, most of you dont). I like young Jonathan, got a lot of time for him as a footballer. Gives you 100%, never shirks a tackle, always looking for the ball. Thought he was definitely one of our better performers against 'dem' Throstles.
