It has been a good year on Vital Villa for the Acorns challenge.
We are now at just over £1900 but that isn`t enough, we want more!
Vital are joining in on the 1874 challenge, which is exclusive to the Lions Clubs..... Everything from the end of the season counts to the challenge so we currently stand at £1196 (the rest was for the 450challenge) and the aim as the name suggests, is £1874
Our great weight loss sponsorship went down a storm, ended up just myself and Nimmo but over £500 was raised in that. Then we had the silent filter concert which raised £140, not to mention the generosity of users who just wanted to donate.
Christmas is a tough time for charities already hit by this awful recession, so if you have a few pennies to spare... please donate. Doing it through the just giving site is easy and quick, or if you want to paypal me some money, do it to email@example.com and I`ll get that donated. If you want to donate via a cheque or bank transfer, just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
About Acorns Click Here:
Acorns Children`s Hospice offers nursing care and support for children who have life limiting or life threatening illnesses, and their families.
A network of care and support services is on offer at Acorns including: nursing care, end-of-life care and bereavement support; short breaks for the children; complementary therapies and support groups for the whole family.
Acorns has three children`s hospices: Acorns in Birmingham (located in Selly Oak), Acorns in the Black Country (located in Walsall) and Acorns for the Three Counties (located in Worcester). Each hospice is designed as a 'home-from-home` offering a fun, relaxed and comfortable environment, complete with individual bedrooms for the children, communal dining areas, beautiful gardens, hydro-therapy pools and multi-sensory rooms.
Short breaks for children give them and their families a break from the daily routine, and offer a safe environment for the children to stay and enjoy many activities not available at home.
End-of-life care and the 'special bedrooms` gives families a private area to say goodbye to their child.
Acorns also has a Community Team who offer support to the whole family 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week, including practical and emotional support for parents, special help for siblings and bereavement support for as long as it is needed.
Acorns helps children and families going through the unthinkable to make the most of every day and create happy memories. Acorns becomes a lifeline for local families who would face a much tougher challenge coping alone.
All of Acorns vital services are completely free of charge to the children and families who need them. Acorns relies on voluntary donations for the majority of its income. To support Acorns and help make a difference to life of a local child visit www.acorns.org.uk or call 0845 120 6892.
(Donating through JUST GIVING (CLICK HERE) is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they`ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they`ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it`s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.)
Feel free to do some clever stuff and spread the word!
