Spanish Youth Linked In Press Transfer Talk

Not a great deal of press transfer talk for Villa today, one report is again linking Stephen Ireland to a six month loan to Celtic. Not sure I buy that, I would think if he is going, Villa would be looking to cash in? Anyway, time will tell!

The other bit of gossip is in The Daily Mail who link us to 18-year-old Spanish striker Guillermo Andres Lopez.

He is currently in Villarreal`s youth team. Apparently Villa, Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven have all sent scouts to watch him.

Don`t forget our January transfer thread... the punishment has indeed began! The January 2011 Transfer Window Thread

i think stevie ireland will come good, i think the theory of the loan move is to let him get away, get himself sorted, playing reguarly and finding form where there is less pressure on him. baring in mind he hasnt played competitive football at citeh for over a year and he was moved to us to fill the void left by james milner. compund that with a new boss coming in, has been a tough time. not making excuses for him but rather than let him leave the club completly, get back to his best and us be left with egg on face, send him away for 6 months to get good competitive football, get a good level of match fittness and sharpness back and hopefully rediscover his best form. then come back next season fresh, revitalised, hungry and wearing claret and blue :)

Steven Ireland doesnt and never wonted to play for Villa. He holded out for a move to Tottenham, I delt he will come good.

A loan makes perfect sense. His valuation in the move here was about @12m, recent form has seen that plummet to around £6m. If he regains his best form we can either cash in or make good use of him. I share deaf dean's optimism for a returning Ireland full of desire for football at Villa.

I think we'd be lucky to get £4m for Stevie Ireland at this moment in time, and personally I think that we should make it clear that the lad has something to offer at Brummagem B6, and is going nowhere (if he wants to stay that is). Talented footballer, going through a difficult spell. Perservere with him, give him more time.

Its too quiet on the transfer rumour front Jonathan. We need a few more tasty bits of gossip floating around to argue and debate about. Certainly hope January isn't this quiet. I dont think it will be.
