Ashley Young Out For A Month?

This is one rumour that I was hoping was wrong....

Ashley Young it appears, is out injured and could miss up to a month of football.

forum

There is nothing on the official site as yet, however www.thesun.co.uk/ say he has damaged ankle ligaments.

forum

He has been told, following a scan, he has to rest to avoid more damage. The other option - again according to this report not from the official site - would be to play with pain killing injections.

ffs.... dunno weather to go with the doom n gloom of him being out for a month, or the doom of the conspiracy theorists that it's cos he's off in 2 weeks, and needs to be "rested" whilst deal is done ......

Real worry if it's true. You'd hope that these injuries are just bad luck and nothing to do with the reported intensive training regime Duverne's put in place? It's a whole load of bad luck right now

Irrespective of whether he's injured or not he needs a rest. i'd say let him recover.

Ive got to say inside im quite glad as it forces us to play a 442 without dropping Albrighton or Downing both have been great so far. So lets try and take a positive outlook for once! alongside this ive not seen anything from him in his last 5/6 performances that i can say was impressive and has only scored twice playing in effect as an AM/CF. I know im gonna get rinsed for this approach but although i obviously have to acknowledge that Young is important for us if we'd had more depth i wouldnt have been upset to have benched him in a few games due to his tantrums and certainty to have to run with the ball. 3-0 again the Latics and hopefully a sneaky win and draw over the festive period!!! UTV Cmon the Boys!!!

no rinsing from me villainofwales, couldnt agree more... with everything other than the scoreline prediction for tomorrow. I'm not as optimistic, think we'll win but not 3-0!

It's probably more to do with how people go for him during matches. He can take quite a kicking sometimes.

Without Ash we'll lose tomorrow. He's our main cut and thrust, all our set pieces come from him being fouled and he always looks like he'll create something. One of the main reasons we were so toothless v Liverpool was because Ash was out. Make no mistake, this is terrible terrible news.
olofthegreat
Yeah but all these setpeices often won by Young, are often wasted by Young his delivery has been fairly awful for most of last season, and so far this season, he shouldnt be playing in the AM role anyway and should be on the wing, but Albrighton and Downing can't be dropped so if we get a few good results, Young will have to fight for his place.

If it means Gabby and Heskey play as a duo (rather than one as a midfielder) with Bannan and NRC in the middle we should be just fine!. Albrighton and Downing on the flanks will mean we will do fine!

I just read on the Villa site he could be back for Tottenham game?

this would be my starting. Freidel, lichaj, collins, cuellar, warnock, albrighton, hogg, reo-coker, downing, gabby, heskey. subs: fonz, clark, dunne, guzan, bannan, carew, ireland.
Zarch
I have no issue with Gabby and Heskey up front, they can play well together. If Downing or Albrighton or Bannan can provide good service on the afternoon we should be fine. I have a little more faith in the back now as well. Something like a 2-1 sounds fair. I could do with a 1-0 win myself, clean sheet and well taken goal.
