interesting to see how quickly we get whoever they want this January. Still think the summer will be the major time, Jan the players you really want are seldom available really are they?
The Fear
Thank god we don't have MON anymore. I got bored of waiting until the last 5 days of every window to find out if we were going to buy anyone!
astvil123
I agree with astvil123.
Blitz
Agreed with above... transfer window might involve anxiously looking at the news each day waiting for news of a player coming in and it actually happening!
johnnyuk
no more pires style purchases please we need players that can move!
eltoro
Pires can move when his got a tazer shoved up his arse HA HA also i thinthe Jan window will be interesting for villa and we will se a few people turn up. Im not going to Speculate on who i want at Villa park as 99.9% of the time it never happens. but all i can say is that villa will be buzzing with activity in january
Ted 369
Scott Dann to replace Dunne? Would he fit into a new look back four and more to the point does anyone rate him as he is at the sty. Really tho i agree with the above comments as it actually might be exciting this window, let's hope we aren't going fo rany has beens though. My picks are a keeper, defender, full back and striker.
holte ender 1969
*for any.
holte ender 1969
Pires was never going to be a transfer to dramatically make an impact on the pitch. His experience is absolutely invaluable and it gives player like Albrighton the chance to soak it all up and learn as much as possible..
mattyh1986
Sorry holte ender but a centre mid is desperately needed... lassana diarra or yann m'vila would be my top targets but that a lil bit ambitious... CF, CM, CB need to be addressed before the fullbacks or gk need to be replaced... and if you disagree you should take a long hard look at our squad and then look at our rivals...
CDX_Villa
GH doe's not have the luxury of waiting till the end of the transfer window before sticking a pair of underpants on his head two pencils up his nose a sitting there looking at the camera sayingm fecking wibble. Villa needs players now, we are not too good to go down.
col8
We need to keep Dunne, he's a rock! Yes out of form but we can't sell everyone when they are out of form. Remember last season? Forget the back for now it's the front and then mids that need attending to asap
AdzVilla
I can support the need for a larger build midfielder in the YaYa Toure type mould. Sidwell is supposed to be that played but i just dont rate him
sonicdeathmonkey
think sidwell has more chance of a Villa exit than he has breaking into our team now... phew!

Not a great deal of press transfer talk for Villa today, one report is again linking Stephen Ireland to a six month loan to Celtic. Not sure I buy that, I would think if he is going, Villa would be looking to cash in? Anyway, time will tell! The other bit of gossip is in The Daily Mail who link us to 18-year-old Spanish striker Guillermo Andres Lopez.
The Fear
big john carew has to go for me, maybe hoarru in for replacement
clarkamus
What is the situation with Ireland guys? Were his performances poor? I have not seen him play a part this season? Dissapointing to see as I rate him as a player but u would have a tough time getting the correct price for him. City just used him as bargain tool so im not surprised at this news.
Mix26
Looks like Ireland wants out. Don't let the door slam you in the butt mate.. Really not sure what GH is gonna do in the transfer window. Clearly some moves need to be made, but I've got no idea. Wonder if Tevez fancies a move to the warmer southern climes of Brum ? Hehe. Well, maybe the thought of Chicken Balti pies on tap might persuade him !
ExpatVillaShirt
I'm not worried about midfield as with players coming back we'll be okay. If we can sort out our defence and stop leaking goals and maybe find a striker who bangs them in and is willing to shoot ffs, then it might start to happen that we win a game or three. I've no idea who will come tho?
holte ender 1969
Joey Barton anyone? Gulp.... + Ash to Man Utd, Sidders to West Ham, Momo Sissoko to Villa from Juventus... Click Here
The Fear
Think Carew will be off, whether in Jan or the summer not sure but he won't stick around, he can see another big pay day.

Would be gutted if we got Barton
The Fear
If we get sissoko i think it will be a MASSIVE signing and we can let Sidders and Salifou go, Sissoko was brilliant at L'pool, and he's still just 25, he suits the EPL. I'd not want Ash to go, but Albrighton looks awesome and Downing has stepped up a notch so in the grand scheme of things i'd use the £20m from Ash and go and get Benzema or spend £10m and get Huntelaar. We'd have a better team already. We need to wheel and deal at Xmas and in the summer, we need to recycle some of our peripheral or out of form squad and use the cash from Ireland, Beye, Carew, Davies, Sidwell, Dunne - got to get £15-£20m for those?.
VillainYorks
who ever said we've got to keep Dunne has surely got to be a Bluenose......he's even worse thean Zat Knight !! The cracks were beginning to appear back in Feb last year when he made that mistake against Man U in the Final.

January might be too late, take a look at our upcoming fixtures - anyone else worried our next points might be from small heath! We are seriously in the doo doo.

stephen ireland out he is the worst player to put on a villa jersey. he was ***** against liverpool, he made no runs from midfield i mean gerard was out he should have made the midfield his the quicker petrov gets back the better, and it would be a big mistake to sell dunne
lion49
Hmmm...may I offer an outsider's reasoned opinion? The squad certainly needs major strengthening in key areas, and in the central midfield, striker, and center-back areas are the main weaknesses that need to be addressed. First, the central midfield. The loss of Milner has hit you more than many of you predicted it would, and Ireland seems to be..well, ever so slightly rubbish. A dynamic, all-energy central midfielder sems to be a priority, but with clubs not selling in the January window, you'll have to be creative. Well, there's a few possible overseas targets...the likes of Yann M'Vila, who recently declared he was open to a move, spring to mind. Domestically, there's a better range of choices. From the surprisingly good Charlie Adam, to the unappealing yet tenacious joey Barton, to Steven N'zonzi of Blacburn, who like his captain won't be at all happy with Allardyce's departure, to Scott Parker from the Spammers,to even Jamie O'Hara, who is much better than his squad status at WHL suggests. When it comes to a striker, the most obvious candidate would be Stoke's disgruntled man Tuncay, or one of either our Keane, which seems the most suggested option, or Crouch, which is less likely. Other than that, Kalinic at Blackburn, Santa Cruz at City, or one of Sunderland's duo of Danny Welbeck and Fraizer Campbell spring to mind. Finally, a centre-back. The most appealing option would seem to be Wheater from Middlesbrough, though there are a couple of choices. Steven Taylor at Newcastle is one, and even Jonathan Woodgate on a loan is an appealing option. He's still a magnificent centre-back, he just needs match sharpness after two years out injured. So, like I said, you've got some options, though you'll have to be creative in aiming for these types of players, as clubs rarely sell top talent in the January window.
DubaiSpur
Stephen Ireland to Stoke for £5million, SHAY GIVEN to Villa.. and more! Click Here
The Fear
The sad thing is Dubai, Ireland isn't rubbish, or he wouldn't be if he woke up and just 'went for it' but yes, for us he's been a major disappointment. We do need re-building now, from the back and Houllier will want passing football so that will mean full backs who can pass etc. The loss of so many players to injury and Petrov in the centre has hit us.

THink the policy at Villa has rightly changed away from old players with no sell on value so that rules out Keane and Crouch, rightly I think. Agree Wheater and won't be surprised to see us get him, he will fit in nicely and is the right age etc. No chance Woodgate on loan, we've had enough injuries this season! Cheers for the post mate.
The Fear
Ireland has always been too big for his boots, he's a complete nutjob. Wheater would be a good signing for anyone, I think he's a great centre back who's gone under the radar for a while now. Woodgate will not go to a Premiership team I don't think. Problem is, Woodgate could sign for a Prem team on loan, then a week after the window shuts he gets crocked. Prem teams can't do anything after the window shuts, whereas Championship teams can get him on a month by month deal. Perfect for all parties, wouldn't be surprised if Leeds got him. They need a centre back, he needs a friendly environment, competitive atmosphere and first team action.

Cheers Fear...Though today's game proved that you need a creative midfielder as a priority, I think. As for ball playing full backs, that Lichaj seems quite a competent centre-back, wouldn't you say? Did better than Maicon.;)
DubaiSpur
And a striker to put away the chances, our lads are too static in the box as the commentator also said a few times. Darren Bent was a BIG miss for us last year, we should have bought him, things could have been So different with his goals in the side... hey ho!

Latest rumour article on front page now, Carew to WBA or Baggies, an Espanyol striker linked, Wheater competition from Wolves and .... oh yes, Ash to Spurs with a number of players on offer in exchange.

Now they're saying that Randy will back Hou even further by outlaying additional funds to spend in Jan on top of whatever is supposedly in the kitty. Dunno about that but i'm not getting excited until Carew, Sidwell, Beye and other dead weight are out the door and Hou starts signing quality players and not just heaps of cheap nobodies.
Grasshopper_AV
I feel sorry for Villa fans, but if Randy doesn't live up to his surname and get shot of that pompous oaf of a manager, then it's John Laurie time for ye all.

Just to lighten the mood here chaps, we are about to sign a young Russian/French starlet "Ivor Le'Miracle". Could start our next game and turn things around, apparently he can play in goals, in defence, midfield and up front :D
holte ender 1969
I really hope he makes as bigger impact than anticipated this new 'Patrick Viera'. But where does he fit in ?. And this 28 year old jamaican striker we are supposed to be signing; has experience but I don't think he's ever played in EPL. Will he make an immediate impact ?, hope so. It may seem i'm a bit of a downer but I truly am positive ! UTV

would like Shay Given and Adebayor on loan with Given being a long term deal for Brad snr replacement. Agree with Chris Samba coming if it happens, potential captain for our back four.
holte ender 1969
I still feel Ireland can do a job at Villa. We should also try to sign Adebayor on-loan for the rest of the season.
reza
Adebayor will not come to us....his head is to big to go to a non-champs league club even though he's cup tied. I'm wondering what it'll be like in the transfer window...will Houllier spend quicker than MON or will we all be there on the last day biting our nails then ending up with Ameobi?!?!?
koolbill
Given and a striker, not Adebayor, too lazy and wouldnt care about us. Got to take what you can in Jan though i suppose. Bent would be ideal although id like to see a foreign name. See what happens in the summer before any big signings. Id like Samba but i hear he wants champs league so maybe wheater more realistic. He's scored 2 in 2 games!
medzy
Plenty going on today... Click Here
The Fear
we've made an inquiry about Samba with Davies going the other way. Blues are in talks with Keane. When will we get a goalscorer?
medzy
Looks like you've got Kyle Walker on loan from us. Be looking forward to seeing how he gets on in the Prem this season. Without intentionally trying to wind you lot up though, what are your views on blooding our kids for us? I've always felt funny about loans in the past cause if the player does well its just a bit of a tease cause he'll be heading straight back to his parent club. This boy could be pretty special though so enjoy!
MJBSpur
we've waited 12months to get back in the market proper, and what happens, we get Pires, a man who should by the look of things be on disability benefit, and a loan player from spurs, a young kid from another club, wtf! and don't mention Ireland 6 months ago, a man who dosen't want to play for us, and we trust this board because they celebrate 1 goal in a style that we do with every goal. oh and GH enough said on that one.
eltoro
Mirror's now saying we're swaping Collins + cash for Samba. Don't know what to say really.
Grasshopper_AV
Samba yes, for Collins no! Rather Davies go than Collins. No striker yet???? We need goals and someone who can come in a bang a few in just may well turn us around and give confidence.
holte ender 1969
Miroslav Klose anyone? cheeky bid and proven pedigree with Bayern Munich. Not sure if he would come or even if we can afford his wages but that's the type of player we need in place of Carew/Heskey.
holte ender 1969
apparently we're getting Bridge on laon. Thats more like it!

90k a week, no thanks he isn't worth it. That "bridge" will not fill the defensive gaps we have atm :-)

Just to re-write something I posted in the forum: I am very much NOT "In the know", but the mum of Joe Lewis has just been in my girlfriends shop, saw me in my Villa jacket and said that her son might be signing for us. I think it'd be a great signing if true, he looks very promising and certainly a better long term prosepct than Andy Marshall! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Lewis_%28footballer%29

today we are linked with Jean Makoun of Lyon. The Cameroon int'nl midfielder is rated at 7mil which Villa think is a tad high and may not therefore follow up. Shame that as he looks good.

Just read that Hou is interested in Monaco forward Dieumerci Mbokani. Which means (if it's true) that Hou does want a striker, and he should too after Heskey being suspended and Carew's behaviour of late. Mbokani looks like a good player and is only 25 so hopefully something will come of it, but like I said, if it's true.
Grasshopper_AV
I don't know much about Jean Makoun, all I know is that he is awesome on Fifa 11.

Thought I would come on here as you have been bombarding our board over Charlie Adam. 2.5m Is derisory. I cant see him going from the Pool for less than 5.5 m Rangers get 20% as a sell on clause. Your guys say Adam is not as good as bannan so answer me this! Why did you loan out Bannan to us last year - Ansswer He wasnt good enough for you. Why therefore would you bid for someone who is not as good as the player you loaned out to us last year? Next question - Why did Oneil go- Answer - because not enough funds were available to him to push you on to a club that would challenge for a Champs league spot. So in esscence this year youare gonna be like the rest of us and fight it out not to go down and I for one have lost respect for your club with that offer. If you had come in at around 4m I would have said Ok thats interesting! Adam is now establishing himself in the Scotland team - he is captain of Blackpool and you offer 2.5m as they say in Scotland Gae & boil yer heid. Nae chance! The difference between our two clubs is one of expectation and we know what our limit is. We are Solvent -ground upgraded and a good bunch of players. we dont need to panic buy as we know if we go down we will enjoy the ride trying to get back in it whereas you lot have delusions of Grandeur! If your abig club I will obviously see you splahing 15-20 million on a european superstar If you dont then your just like us trying to survive the financial whirlwind of the usual suspects!
nunu
Thought provoking comments nunu. Slightly off-beam as I see Villa as what Rodney Marsh terms a 'tier 2 club'. Blackpool are 'tier-3' and not having a go as I really hope (and expect) you to stay up this year. Course these pecking order can and do change. Spurs must be pushing to make the top 4 or 5 into a top 6. No reason why Blackpool cant make tier-2 Premier league mid table regularts if tey can get past a couple of seasons. Villa, in my mind should have oodles of cash from Barry sale, Milner sale etc and so need to spend to keep a 6th 7th 8th sized club. End of the day the EPL is all **** - money and Sky. What ever happened to our game....
cropped
Have to agree with Cropped and the debate about buying success with always be controversial! Mind you if we stay up and you go down that really makes you a tier3 club and us tier 2 - lets see what happens but I suspect some panic buying by Villa. JUst leave Charlie alone- barry will be avery good if not great player in 2 or 3 years as lonng as he behaves himself off the pitch!
nunu
Cash rich clubs are ruining football and the much loved clubs with history are beginning to struggle. The one consolation is that you cannot buy success (Man C) will continue to buy buy buy though and that will back fire eventually. Well done to Blackpool this season as spirit will get you far and keep you with us, it's a fact that your second year is a struggle. I hope Villa do not splash more than what we can afford chasing a dream but we indeed keep it real, otherwise we could go under. You have to build slowly and hope your not left behind. Btw, a player is worth what a team is willing to pay and the selling club is willing to accept or its no deal.

New York City Wolf
Nunu I have had a big soft spot for Blackpool, their fans, their manager and the spirit of which they have played this season, but comments like that almost make me think otherwise! Firstly you can't compare Bannan to Adam, big age difference, big experience difference and to even go there at the moment is silly. Bannan isn't even close to being there yet but has good potential, notice I said good. Adam has proven himself well this year and could probably do a job at Villa especially with his set piece plays but it's early days, once the prem defenders wise up it will become a lot hard for him and the Pool, he'll have to step up again, only time will tell if he can. Anyway buying a player is about negotiating (Unless your City) so 2.5mil would only be a start mark, he'll probably go for closer to 4/5 mil if at all. But you wouldn't come in with that offer straight away would you? Also to compare Villa to Blackpool is ridiculous, we are a prem club that has been since day dot, your a good honest club that's building towards what we have. I think your comments about expectation are wide of the mark as well. I really don't think Randy thinks we are top 4 at the moment and I know GH has doesn't! (Even though I wish he did the goose) but what do you have if you don't have drive, ambition and a dream to be the best? That's why the prem is so great it's so competitive in many ways. Anyway let me finish by saying I still hope you stay up (Mainly because of Holloway) I love his passion and the way he handles the team on and off the pitch. GH could learn a thing or two about team bonding that's for sure.

Adzvilla - Why are you agreeing with me - do you not read all the posts ona thread. Will someone get that stray dog called who keeps annoying everyone on our site Cheers
nunu
The stray dog is called P.Avfc Someone put a muzzle on him! he keeps going on about Villa challenging for a champions league place but Vila are like the rest of us -we are all challenging for a Champions league slot but like Villa none of us have a hope in hell!
nunu
^^^too true and we are a long way off. Ignore silly comments but each to their own aye. Looks like we have increased our offer to 3.5mil, still looks pretty cheap to me, imho. Maybe 4 or 5 mil? Either way its in the players hands these days and if CA was tempted then it will happen either way. I can tell you that he would bring creativity to our team and we need that badly atm. We also need a striker and that is our biggest problem, our current strikers would make great defenders!
holte ender 1969
Nunu I have done my homework and read the thread. Now tell me how I'm agreeing with you? Over Adam v Bannan? To anyone that watches football is pretty clear who's better at the moment but as I said you can't compare at the moment. Can someone tell me if 7mil is really to much for Villa at the moment? Because if it is we are in the $%^&!
AdzVilla
Thats exactly what I said That Adam is better than Bannan at the moment but Bannan has great potential and in 2 or 3 years could become a great player as long as he keeps his off -field antics to the minumum and concentrates on what he does best. In essence thats what I was saying but other Villa fans were saying different thats all - so I actually agree with you Adzvilla or vica versa!
nunu
Ha! Great minds huh. I agree with you on that yes for sure mate but not your points about Villa! Anyway I keep hitting refresh and nothing..... Is this going to be another dull Jan for us?? 1 dam good striker that's all we want Randy!!!!!!!!!!!

Charlie Adam is Liverpool bound if not now in the summer
AndrewDuncan
Charlie Adam is Liverpool bound if not now in the summer
AndrewDuncan
Adam will go to the red scouse and I suspect his career will follow that of Sidwell. One good season at an over performing club, move to a big club, fail to live up to the hype and then become a journey man. Nunu - the fact that this is our worst season for a long time and your best one ever, that we have been in the prem since its conception and with the exception of one or two spells of note have always been a top flight club, that we have actually won something since the invention of colour TV, that our training pitch is bigger than your ground and that we have a fan base and commercial model that extends beyond the borders of the City (town in your case) and country in which we are based makes your assertion that blackpool and Villa are in the same bracket derisable. Enjoy your season, I really hope blackpool stay up, but get real.
AVbornandbred
Sky sports report Villa have bid 6mil for Lyon's Makoun. The holding midfielder cost them 11mil two yrs ago. If reports are true then we are not the only club to suffer losses on players. Hope this deal goes through as he looks to be a cheaper version of Essien. Is GH starting to use his connections???
holte ender 1969
Holloway told us to stick our bid where ever we like in relation to our bid for Charlie Adam, and says he owes Blackpool and should stay there lol.
Grasshopper_AV
so if you are that big and we are not in your bracket we must make ourselves 18th or 19th to be in your bracket- Actually we are 9th so you are right we are not in your bracket and I bow to your superior knowledge. Still think theirs gonna be alot of Claret in the Championship next year!

Av bornandbread... in response to your previous comment... adam is not liverpool bound, you lot were trying to tell me that what aston villa wants aston villa gets... funny how now we have told you to stick ya bid your all saying he is going to liverpool!...you have been in the prem since its conception... and never won it!! you have won things since colour tv but to be fair 70% of your honours were won between 1890 and 1920..... no league title since 81 thats 30 years , no FA cup since , is it 57... well anyway 50 years.... not exactly that impressive is it.... couple of league cups in the last 20 years.... your training pitch is that good , you play like you have never used it....and size is due to you being in a city and we are a town.... nothing we can do about that really!....... and it must be 2 seasons overperforming as we were supposed to go down lst season to league one....... we are small, we dont have loads of money , but we have one thing you dont, a group of player with spirit and a will to prove everyone wrong..... i dont think you will go down, but dont dis us cause we are small...... its about what we do on the pitch... at at the moment... all is well at the seaside!
jacpool
I'll have a couple of whatever nunu's drinking please!
26.05.82
jacpool just served some whoopass...I think Balckpool are the neutrals team live Newcastle under KK the first time around, come on Villa do us prooud and get some players in this window.
koolbill
Hornets nest !?
Grasshopper_AV
oh deary me, it comes to something when we start getting deluded b'pool fans on here. It's where you finish after the marathon and not the first sprint my friend! Come back and gloat after and not before otherwise you look like a complete "john thomas head". In holloway terms, no disrespect intended, lol.
holte ender 1969
im not deluded pal.... just stated facts and as i said , i know we are a small club... i have never said we would finish above you, or you would go down..... but i dont think we will either....... i think it is possibly some of you who are deluded, big club + money + fans doesnt always = success...... we all have our aims... ours is to stay up this season... and with a squad that cost 3m i dont think we are doing to bad.... how are you doing? hmmmmmmmmmm
jacpool
and can i just add... i came to villa park to watch us and was impressed..... bit dif to our little stadium.... we can debate about this subject forever.. we are a bit in dreamland at the moment... wouldnt you be??? but as ollie said... please dont dis us.... we were going down with less that ten points in the summer.... i have no beef with villa... just a few came on to the blackpool vital giving it the big i am when it came to charlie adam.... which i didnt like!.... good luck for the rest of season guys...... ya got a big one this weekend!!!!
jacpool
^^all the best. We are hurtin atm so any remarks will get a frank response tbh. We will turn it around though and your remarks about us being a big club is true, but we have to face a bit of reality whilst we go through this transitional period and hopefully hang in there. Yes we are bigger than you but it doesn't show that way thus far, will it continue, who knows?? that's what make the premiership so open this year. UTV.
holte ender 1969
yes... very open this season... think the 40 points will be required.... maybe more, who knows.... ! you only have to lose one and ya back in the scrap lol... but tbh i really hope i get to make the trip to you again next season.... obv meaning we stay up, as im sure you will.... a couple of wins and your back in the hunt.... tc, and good luck against your rivals on sunday.... im sure those 3 points are sweeter than any others lol
jacpool
gonna be tough, would have been a nice lift to have Makoun in place given his experience. The one thing you need (Bl'pool) is to keep hold of your players and you'll be alright. If teams like us come and cherry pick then you might struggle.
holte ender 1969
Keane to blouse. Thank god that is the end of that rumour.
holte ender 1969
Wouldn't that be nice
AdzVilla
Just had the name Vela mentioned to me, on loan.
Stig
MON to West Ham, I know most won't agree but that's sad news to me......
AdzVilla
Makoun is officially a Villa player... Happened 30 min ago...
Astriel
Yeeehaaa now for Darren Bent, NZogbia, the two Wigan boys a decent CM and a new manager and we are on!
AdzVilla
Astriel, nowt on the official site so are you sure and any details?
holte ender 1969
Target: Wigan's Maynor Figueroa (right) While Houllier also likes Wigan striker Hugo Rodallega, his main target at the DW Stadium is attacking Honduran left back Figueroa. Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has tried to play down Villa's interest in two of his leading lights but faces an uphill task preventing Figueroa heading for the Midlands later this month. Houllier, who is close to finalising a £6million deal for Lyon's Jean Makoun, is also lining up Montpellier's Bosnian centre half Emir Spahic. The 30- year-old was a summer target for Arsenal but could join Villa next week in a £5m deal Who?!
ruggaboy
Has been confirmed Holte ender. Supposedly 6.5 million pounds transfer.
Astriel
Makoun confirmed, cool!
The Fear
latest transfer gossip list updated; Click Here
The Fear
figeroua would be a very good signing, i think we need a centre back who can actually play football. Gary Cahill is just what we need now but we ballsed up that one didnt we! i watch quite alot of french football and that Emir Spahic that we've been linked with today can actually pass, which would be a massive positive! and a good striker and we should be set now we have makoun! UTV!!
avfcwills10
Thanks for the heads up, lets hope this signing is like waiting for a bus..............and then there was three! C'mon Villa.
holte ender 1969
PLs god don't bring Titi Camara out of retirement too....
koolbill
Bent to sign from Sunderland for 18 million today.
KSarge1
Bent is gonna sign YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!! Anyone who doubts randy and Hou better eat their words now. Thats showing ambition. 15 would be more realistic though
medzy
GREAT SIGNING, COULD RISE TO 24 MIL WITH ADD ONS!!!
astonsteve
Don't get too excited, SSN say Villa have made a bid and Bent has handed in a transfer request. Nothing yet to say that Sunderland will sell, especially at this point of the season. I'd be very surprised. Agree with medzy completely though, at least this shows ambition,an 18m firm offer is not to be sniffed at.
AVbornandbred
Bid accepted reports he is already at Bodymore Heath
astonsteve
They'd be silly to turn it down. Still maintain that Darren Bent is a good player, but he will infuriate you at times! If he cost us less than £10m he'd still be at White Hart Lane, and he'd be classed as a decent player. It was only because he was our record signing at £16.5m, and bearing in mind we signed him from a relegated team, the pressure was always going to be on him.
bernio3000
Remember as well there were clauses in the deal with ourselves, appearances and such to take the figure they paid from £10m to £16.5m. I'm obviously not familiar with the structure but they could essentially be saving a further £6.5m in add ons by selling to you now.
bernio3000
He`d be a great purchase for you .He`d fire you to safety & that transfer fee will pay for it self .Good signing & TBH we need him too .Bloody Crouch as bad for us as he was for you .Bent will never be world class but if you need a no nonsense goal scorer, he`s your man
big cockeral
Does Royston Drenthe play LB? If he does I think we'll sign him.
Pking
drenthe is a trouble maker, i dont want him
avfcwills10
Im not saying I want us to sign him I'm just putting two and two together. The guy has not been payed in months, trouble maker is unfair.
Pking
he went to hercules on loan and refused to play and went to the papers heavily criticising the training ground and other aspects of the club? how is he not a trouble maker..........
avfcwills10
Lookin forward to the headlines "Bent Double"!
holte ender 1969
Deal confirmed, 4 and a half years, well done lads.
bernio3000
Am I the only person who has spotted this (I'm sure I'm not but I can find very little else about this potential signing). Apparently the only thing stopping him signing is whether GH's job is safe. I think we can safely say it is after being allowed to spend £18m+ on Bent. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_6665952,00.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emir_Spahi%C4%87
Adam Deuce
He is a good player he gets goals thats all that counts.
Uskok
Fear, we can now add Bent in and Walker (loan). Let's hope that Samba comes also and that Given or a n other top stopper!
holte ender 1969
nunu- ''If your abig club I will obviously see you splahing 15-20 million on a european superstar'' haha! shut up now havent you
avfcwills10
Great job done with signing Bent. We need someone now to play the killer ball from midfield. That is where we miss Milner. In time, that role should be made for Barry Bannan. Shay Given, Samba and a pacy left back (Figueroa??) would complete the set, and who knows what might happen with Kyle Walker.
Madirish
John Carew Carew. We have seen the last of you. Maybe if you scored a goal or two John Carew Carew... Sorry to see the guy go :( So much ability and power...
Astriel
madirish, totally agree with that wishlist, especially Given.
holte ender 1969
Ive just put a fiver on Bent for a hat trick against City on Saturday at 66/1 ...... Am i mad ????..... well at least its my first Sky bet so i get the fiver back if i lose
tvrwhitey
Rumours on Sky transfer chat :- Been told by a very good source. Who in fact got the Makoun deal spot on before it was released to the press. Anyway, Villa are to sign adam for £4.5m + £1m in add ons. The player is likely to have his medical on Tuesday. Also been told Villa are linking up loan bids for Michael Johnson of Man City and Also Henry who is training with the Arsenal squad. ...... . Houllier in talks with with Monaco over Mbokani. Looks like a done deal, just agreeing to financial terms. ...... and finally ....... Richard Morris (Newcastle United) says... Just saw Emile Heskey getting out of a taxi and going into a hotel in Sunderland
tvrwhitey
"and who knows what might happen with Kyle Walker"....I know what will happen and so does everyone else. He'll be coming home.
MJBSpur
^^^MJB, usually that what "loan" means!
holte ender 1969
And loans sometimes lead to permanent deals. By home, MJBSpur, you mean Sheffield Utd dont you? On the evidence so far I'd love to see him make a new home in B6
Madirish
Any keeper rumours for Villa? Would love to get Given on loan or full time.
holte ender 1969
You gotta love the Heskey to Sunderland Joker .... i'm still laughing about it .....
tvrwhitey
cant believe you guys have signed Bent for that sort of money I really hope he scores against the citeh on saturday to earn his fee...you'll be on his back within two games if he doesnt do anything...he couldnt hit the side of a barn when he was with us at Spurs....just blow Citeh away please rather than blow the game.....cant believe you lot are in the position your in..losing O'Neil was the worst thing that could have happend and then you go and get Houlier! ..talk about Sh!t happens! COYS
OyVeh Maria
I now think the best thing that has happened to us has been MON going. Onward and upward UTV.
Grasshopper_AV
^^OM, then you cannot see the bigger picture but then why should you. We dont mention MON anymore after he left us in the poop but then all things happen for a reason and so hopefully our luck begins to turn. Bent is a massive club record fee and a show of intent from our big club. We are in a false position but we have to start to turn it around and prove that!
holte ender 1969
and what a great start for DB. Clark has done well but would like a proven LB and a keeper to replace Brad. Wigan's AlHabsi played a blinder at Emirates! Would prefer Given but Hennesey at wolves looks a good young keeper too. Samba would be good if he is genuinely interested.
holte ender 1969
OyVeh Maria: so we beat Cit£h lol any more requests? lol
Avillian136
I hear Nico Kranjcar wants out from spurs. If we do plan to move on Downing or Young then he would be the perfect replacement. Still fairly young, is amazingly talented and would fit well into our setup. Probably get him on the cheap too. Maybe worth a pop. If we could get him for 6 mil then we might be getting a gem of a player..
Astriel
Charlie Adam has apparently handed in a transfer request today. Would you say we're still a possibility?
Callum_ws
Charlie Adam to Villa ? Don't see why not. Liverpool are on the way down IMHO, so why wouldn't he. Any more news on Shay Given ?
AVwhite
AVwhite, liverpool are no way going down. but i kind of hope they do get adam, i think his great passing over shadows his weaknesses. Ive watched him both against sunderland and albion, and in both games he messed up in his own half and gave the ball away leading to a good chance for both teams, and i think albion scored from it. not convinced
avfcwills10
Given, Lescott and MILNER please!!!
medzy
ive been saying lescott, i dont think milner is a possibility unfortunatley i cant imagine it coming off at all. but lescott, was brilliant at everton and has never really been given a chance at city, but he was a top player, and i reckon for about £8mil he could be a brilliant signing!
avfcwills10
Looks like Ireland off to the Toon, very disapointed really liked the guy, thought he was agreat signing, still could be, it would be great if he got his head right would be perfect in a attacking formation with Downing, Bent , Young and super Mark, lets hope we get Adam although i fear he is off to the scouse utv.
astonsteve
How about Robinson as a replacement for big Brad?
astonsteve
We need a bloody striker how can the club not see it we are crying out for a goal scorer....oh wait....sorry got so used to saying it.
mattyh1986
Why on earth are we being linked to Jenas again? I thought that rumour died with MON. The Sun today saying 10million, are they mad? I just don't rate the guy at all he is no better than anyone in our midfield, Salifou included!
KaBar
Haven't posted on this thread for a while, so this repost is a bit belated. To jackpool and Koolbill, read my previous posts - I have never once claimed what we want we get (only Man Ure and now Citeh can claim that), what i did claim was that Adam will move to the red scouse. We have now shown our level of ambition and demonstrated the size of the club with our signings. We could do with a top notch keeper and a left back if we can find one better than our youngsters (not forgetting than Luke Young played there for us for almost an entire season recently). We do not need Adam and I genuinely believe that he is over rated having had one decent season in his career. I still believe he will go to the red scouse, especially as he has now handed in a transfer request and there is a famous scottish chap in charge up there who Holloway seems to worship. He will go either now or in the summer and will then follow the career plan of Mr S Sidwell before disappearing into obscurity
AVbornandbred
Robinson for GK a good shout
medzy
How long does Brad snr have on his contract? we really should look at GK and LB as stated above by a few including myself.
holte ender 1969
brads contract runs out in the summer, i reckon we'll wait till then to get a new keeper, especially as the top ones are probably not going to move now as there teams wont be able to replace them. given is a top top keeper so going for him would be my ideal choice! i think we need a left back nowwwwwwwwww
avfcwills10
They are saying Kranjcar could go for as little as 2mil, surely he'd be a great signing. He'd be a squad player yes but get more time than he did at Spurs, he can play both wings, prob be good at AMC and also he shoots well and can take cracking free kicks! Sign him up I say!
AdzVilla
Rumours about Adam again, wispers he will sign in next few days?
astonsteve
Apparently a Curtis Davies/Sebastien Larsson swap is on the cards. Larsson and £1.5m for Villa. Hhhhmmmmm
MattUTV
Yes Mattutv think that is correct and the Adam thing is wrong.
astonsteve
LARSSON give me a break our whole youth team is better
AdzVilla
does anyone actually rate Larsson?
AVbornandbred
Whos Larsson? the dude that cant get in the *****tyBrummy team, Omg!! Give us a brake.
Blitz
JEAN MAKOUUUN MAKOUUUUN

Will somebody give that nugget Field a nudge to update this lol - I'll update on close folks, until then chat away!
mike_field
Far more important than transfers, can somebody tell me why I'm still awake at 5 to 4 lol
mike_field
APPARENTLY WE'RE ABOUT TO SIGN USA INTERNATIONAL MICHAEL BRADLEY ON LOAN??????
avfcwills10
Yep BBC have got this one - not sure if he'll adapt to the Prem but a loaner is a good way of finding out I reckon ! Adds some depth to the midfield, can't be bad ? - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/a/aston_villa/9381393.stm -
ExpatVillaShirt
Any news on Isaiah Osbourne weve just loaned from yourselves?
ollyowl70
i think your best of asking teams hes been loaned to in the past olly, as we havent seen him play in about 4 years! lol. a few seasons ago he had a decent run in the team and looked like he had potential but we've seen nothing since.
avfcwills10
Sky Bet have slashed Odds on Ashley Young joining liverpool this January to 1/2! that cannot be good :-(
mattyh1986
Ash is going nowhere this month :-)
mike_field
lot of stories seem to be flying around about it, but i cant see him leaving
avfcwills10
anyone still think Bent was overpriced? - £45M+ for Torres (after a crap world cup and poor season so far), and £35M for Carroll (totally unproven and a bit of a carthorse and off field thug) the world has gone mad. Makes £18 -£24 M for the third highest english scorer look like an absolute bargain.
AVbornandbred
HAS THE WORLD GONE COMPLETLEY MAD?!!!!!!???????????????????!!!!!
