Hot on the heels of the Richard Dunne row claims: Revolting Players At Villa? We now have Brad Friedel saying what a few of us have been arguing this week, stop hiding behind the manager and look at yourself ... player wise that is obviously, he isn`t telling me to look at myself, I do that enough, jeez, I`m a good looking fella you know!? Vital Villa fantasy league, I`m so bad I`ve finally decided to make a few substitutions. Looking at my team, 6 of them weren`t even playing and one is in Turkey and another out until next year! LOL.... Click Here

The Daily Mail today claim that Stephen Ireland will find out the plans for him at Villa and where his future lies this week. It also says, unlike other whispers, that he didn`t storm off this weekend and that he wasn`t picked for the squad so watched the game from a box.

Dan Harrison: Goalscorer Stewart Downing hailed Villa's resilience in bouncing back to earn a derby day success over West Brom. The winger set Gerard Houllier's team on the road to victory with a first-half strike on Saturday - his sixth goal of the campaign. Full article: ://www.avfc.co.uk

Paul Brown: Eric Lichaj enjoyed a fantastic first top-flight start - with a little help from his friends. Lichaj looked the part at right-back and defended majestically during the Baggies win. But on the final whistle the young USA ace immediately praised the contributions of flying wingers Marc Albrighton and Stewart Downing. Full article: www.avfc.co.uk

Bill Mills in The Mirror has a bit of a bizarre link. Remember we were always being linked with Republic of Ireland winger Aiden McGeady when he was at Celtic? Well, the link returns as he looks to end his 'Russian nightmare` following a £12million move to Spartak Moscow. According to this report, he is a target for Villa at a 'knockdown` price. + Ash to Man Utd? Full links: More Ash Out Links - Yawn + Winger Linked IN

Well the weekend might have gone but the Something for the Weekend remains great! Something For The Weekend (311)

Gerard Houllier praised the contribution of Emile Heskey against Albion and believes he can still improve as a player. Speaking on the Official Site following our much needed win at the weekend, Houllier couldn't praise the returning Heskey enough, both for his play upfront but also for his defensive work. 'Emile has the confidence of his team mates, he is a likeable person, I know what he is capable of. I think when you have been out for a while, it's great to produce a performance like that for the team.' Full article: Houllier Hails Heskey

Stiliyan Petrov has talked about returning in time for the Blues clash for a while, but as the game edges closer his recovery is well on track for him to be involved. Club Captain Petrov told the Official Site that his knee injury has been one of the most painful periods of his career, but he is now due to return to full training in little over a fortnight. 'My knee is well and truly on the mend, I've really stepped up my work rate recently and I'm looking to be back in training within the next couple of weeks. With a bit of luck, I will be back for the derby away at Birmingham in mid January.' Full article: Petrov Eyeing Blues Return

Stewart Downing is the latest to add his voice to Marc Albrighton's England credentials given his impact on the team this season. Full quotes: Albrighton Tipped For England
