Houllier After January Stocker Filler
Don't often do transfer rumours, I leave to that to the other one, but I thought of the title and amused myself, so there you go. Valentin Stocker!
According to a rumour on Sky Sports News Gerard Houllier has joined the race for highly rated Basel midfielder Valentin Stocker.
Get it. Stocker filler...stocking filler...Christmas? Well made me smile.
The Swiss international has been apparently linked with a host of clubs including the red team from the City of Everton (apparently we can no longer say them by name) but Houllier has jumped straight in with an early enquiry but Basel are loathed to let their starlet go.
Not much of a rumour, no quotes, but I told you I liked the headline.

Surely a striker has to be a priority for you guys? I'm tearing my hair out for Spurs to get a new striker, I'm assuming you feel the same at Villa.

I agree we need at least 2 new strikers why on earth are we looking at midfielders? Unless of course its a smoke screen!!!!

Have to disagree. IMO a powerful, tall, athletic defensive midfielder is number one priority. Diarra or Sissoko would fit the bill perfectly. We have no height in midfield to win ariel or physical battles in front of the back four. Petrov is our best defensive midfield player and Reo-Coker has great energy. Hogg is learning, but not very big, and Sidwell has not performed well enough. I think Sidwell will leave, and we need to replace him. We are fine with attacking players from midfield (Young, Bannan, Delph, Gardner and maybe still Ireland). I don't see that many players coming in January. Maybe a keeper, another left back, a defensive midfielder (priority) and a forward if Carew goes as we think he will. a lot will depend on whether GH continues with 4-4-1-1 or goes 4-4-2.

We need to sell some of the bad stock we have and that is mainly in the midfield area, i think that is the second attacking midfielder we have been linked with.

Am I allowed to say that I liked Sissoko when he was at L*******L?? He would be ideal for us, we need steel in the middle of the park not over rated, over paid, folically challenged players who don't want to be at our club.

not sure why people think Jol is 'the' man for Villa. He split the Spurs fans same as MON did to our lot, he didn't use many tactics, subs etc much like our MON situation etc. Anyway, back on topic... MF... BOOOOOOO! lol

AdzVilla what are you banging on about we have GH and he will do good any more comments like that and we will buy sombody to replace you, LOL , i agree with a DM we need that atleast as Petrov will not last forever, attacking wise you all say no to keane but when his banging in goals for fun i would turn him away from the club as at the moment Gabby cant hit a barn door, heskey scores with every part of his body apart from his feet and a midfielder is our highest goal scorer.
Get rid of Habib, Ireland, Dunne, Carew as these few are acting like utter c***s (excuse my french but needed) bring in some younger blood and with the passion to want to play football.
