Albrighton Tipped For England

Stewart Downing is the latest to add his voice to Marc Albrighton's England credentials given his impact on the team this season.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail Downing was full of praise for the youngster for the way he has exploded onto the scene this year, and more so for the way he slotted straight back in against the Baggies after missing a few games owing to his appendix.

'I am sure the way he is playing, England won't be too far away. He is a good kid who listens and learns with a good future ahead of him. When he whips balls in it is hard for defenders, as you saw against West Brom.'

With Capello seemingly willing to give new blood a chance at England level, which I admit is a bit of an oxymoron given his reliance on those players who consistently let us down, with the form Albie is in whilst season might be a stretch for a call up, if he can show the same sort of consistency when next season picks up he has to be in with a shout given the other failed wing options at International level.

Thoroughly deserved praise for Albie. May he stay at Villa for many years to come.

Having a great season, personally id prefer him to stay with the u21 for a while longer.

nah, keep him away from England, when they go to that set up, they get tapped up!
The Fear
I agree with Fear - stay awayyyyyy!

If Shaun Wright Phillips can get in the squad, there is no reason why Marc shouldn't be up for consideration.

If SWP can get in, Albie should be first choice every game!! He is streets ahead in talent and finish.

Only a matter of time for the Tamworth lad... For Albrighton read Beckham. Lichaj = Neville, Bannan = Scholes, Gardner = Gerrard, Clark = Ferdinand and Del Boy = either Defoe or Luke Moore (still not sure!). Who is Fabian Delph like? Andy Townsend? Could be a useful team!!!

I've loved what he has shown in the two previous pre seasons (don't you just love the interweb for that) & must say he's looked class this season in the PL. But far too soon for England. not because of his talent... he is more than good enough. he shows muppets like walcott up to be the no trick pony he is. but because once an up & coming 'star' joins england they seem to turn into primadonna wag\slag muppets. Plus sky & the media will only try & sell him off to one of their favourites. Keep him away for as long as possible. Hes class, hes one of OUR own & long may it continue for us & him at the Villa. So on second thoughts. quick drop him GH, before the media relise how good he is. lol.
