Gerard Houllier DOES Say Positive AVFC Things!

Gerard Houllier DOES Say Positive AVFC Things!

This will be brief and isn`t being done to wind anyone up... honest!

There are those who say that Gerard Houllier never says anything positive about us the fans or the club and that he only talks about former Club Liverpool.

Now fair enough, on Monday night v Pool he did himself no favours but he has several times said sorry.

Anyway, a quote I found by him on the official site:

"I could not turn down the opportunity to manage a club whose approach, both on and off the pitch, I have long admired. Aston Villa is one of England's biggest clubs and has an amazing set of fans.

The first mission is to get results, the second is to be entertaining!"

D'ya know what, I haven't entered this 'debate' before, but maybe we fans really ought to stop being quite so precious ...
13/12/2010 12:49:00
lol, somewhat Rosetta, although I have read so many times them saying Houllier doesn't care for Villa etc and I'm told by staff at Villa that just is not the case, he does respect the club, fans etc and is 'sold' on us as a club.

Bob, footie is mad isn't it? Think managers and players are just as precious as us lot as well at times. You really can't quantify how daft and passionate we all are can you? We wouldn't act as we do over football in many other walks of life. Makes it a great thing to follow though! Sometimes we are all precious about different bits i agree but I think fans just want the players/managers to share their love and passion. Thing is, not many ever will as they come and go, we remain!

That wouldn't be any fun though, would it Bob? Especially now we all have t'interweb, we can get all wound up 24/7 by the slightest little thing -- That progress for you .....
13/12/2010 13:05:00
Lol victort get wound up 24/7 - so true! Mr Fear Houllier did make those comments straight after he joined so he's hardly going to say anything negative... he shouldnt have made those comments re Liverpool but its done, no big deal lets get on with it... Now what can we get wound up about next??!

Are people still going on about that liverpool s**te at least he apologised and correct me if im wrong didnt John Gregory have secret talks with Derby behind Villas backs did he not. WE WON and looked good in the process (well for at least 80% of the time) My Passion runs deep into my claret and blue heart and agree with Bob the Builder football is a mad thing and im glad there are others that share my love for the CLUB. We will go to Wigan and get another 3 pts as now that the Mack has returned (refer to hercs sketch after the baggies win) and NRC its a massive boost in confidence and can see us moving on up to the better parts of the league

Bob, i will second third and fourth your statement. Let's hope the Villa Faithful are over their 'preciousness', is that even a word :) Who cares, roll on Wigan and another 3 pts.

A couple of small points i'd like to get off my chest... IMO Football is followed by three distinct groups. - players/ex players & managers. They are now only in this for themselves, imo, & will defend there astronomical wages as if they are just! They beleive its ok to move anywhere at anytime & winge like Tevez if they don't get there own way. Media - Only intersted in the Sky 4, Man*****ty, west Ham & newcastle. So F**k em! Fans - The only people IMO who actually count. We will still be following our religion long after the money, TV & media scum are gone. I only care about OUR opinions as we unconditionally love our club. Just needed to say that. Onto GH. As we live in 'knee jerk' land these days... you only need to listen to the 10 mins an hour of repeated talk on 'talkadvert' to relise this. I totally understand how someone can be the greatest one month & the worst the next??? I don't know GH, & can't see any time when i'd ever get to know him, so i can only pass comment on his conduct as Villas manager, his style of play & the results. yes hes inheritted MON's 'hoof it' style & is trying to get us to play FOOTBALL. Which does depend on defenders passing, not hoofing, the ball. I actually think the worst culprit is Collins! but hope he can coach them into something their ludicrous salerys should already enable them to do. Play! As to the scouse debacle... i felt like i'd just walked in on my wife with another man after his pro scouse love in. Not F***in happy!! to quote JG 'if i'd have had a gun i'd have shot him!'... but thats knee jerk isn't it? On the positive side, he IS trying to get us to play FOOTBALL. He IS using the excellant acadamy graduates. he is also the Villa manager & if the baggies result is the start of better results i'll be willing to forgive... in time. So keep the angry, funny, sad & happy knee jerk comments coming. PLEASE... What ever happens i'm Villa till i die! UTV. ps. Hercs is absolutly top draw... so how long before the media suggest that Chelski or man*****ty buy him from us then? Seems to be the way these days.
