£15million For Ash Young? You're Having A Laugh!

The Mirror have an exclusive by Alan Nixon this morning saying that Ashley Young is Liverpool bound. Not sure how exclusive that is to be fair, especially as he`s been linked to them already!

They say that Liverpool hope to get Ash for £15million in January. Remember Ash has put his contract talks at Villa on hold to 'concentrate on his football`.

This report says that if Villa sell they will want a big fee but Liverpool think they can get him for less, especially if Ash says he wants to move. Manchester United and Tottenham have also been linked.

The Daily Star say West Ham have joined Villa and Celtic in having an interest in Spurs striker Robbie Keane who has been told he can leave in January.

The Daily Mail say that Villa are set to step up their interest in Robbie Keane with a £6million bid.

£15million? Not too bad considering he hasn't played well for a year and a half but £20million is closer to his value I think.

I would take it!! I imagine thats the minimum we would get......hopefully Man Utd, Spurs or Arsenal will join the bidding and push the price up. But we will lose him for free so should take the money. Albrighton and Downing are fine wingers and Im sure £15m would get one or two players in the mould of Bentley to compete.

Probably 15million to Liverpool since GH loves them so much, I still think we need Ashley Young, and i still think he shows a lot of promise to become a big player in the premiership, 15million is way below Value though. It was only 6months ago when Barcelona was going to pay 25m for him, Also we should still have 18m from the Milner transfer in the kitty, there is no way in hells chance that can be put into the club when we are supposed to be pushing up in the league, and selling your best players for good value you need to buy smarter and cheaper to regain that kind of talent.

Why is £15million having a laugh for a player that has played poorly for over a season and has a contract nearing expiry? Wake up Villa fans and smell the coffee he's no world beater.. Ozil went to Madrid for £12million and VDV to Spurs for £8mill

Good point Valiant, and lets not forget Milner cost more than he did for Man City because they have so much money and we squeezed them for what we could. So using his price as a benchmark is totally pointless.

i can see A.Young going in jan to be honest he dont wanna be at villa anymore he made that clear by putting his contract talks on hold, he will go for around £15mill and he will go london bound on the M6 and the car will stop at Spurs or Arsenal as he wants to play footbal in london.

How much did United pay for Ferdinand, Carrick, Anderson? You can name as many players that cost alot more than £15m that ain't world beaters, as you can under £15m that are very good players.

Get rid as early as possible, he is 25 now and still cant cross the ball, yes he runs at defenders and yes he can shoot. GH has given him a more central role to prove his worth, he has failed, sell him now before buyers realize what a load of tosh he his. Downing and albrighton on the wings with the option of NZogbia(better than Young) and possibly Bentley. With our apparent interest in Sissoko and Krancjar i see some exciting times ahead. I have ignored our defensive issues it just beggars belief, Luke Young is playing well but the others are all over the place

Ash is great when on song but we can't say that of any Villa player lately, it doesn't mean we sell him even if the BS story is true. Unless its from his own mouth i wouldn't believe it.

£15m for a player who has failed to reach his immense potential after a really good start, has 18 months left (that is the key) on his contract and is not keen on re signing. It will not be Spurs he goes to they really do not need him, Liverpool I can see, a bidding war...doubt it £15m sounds about right

i reckon we should ask Barca about Affelay first.

If that's your view Morgan, then best keep quiet about it - not a very good spiel to bump the price up? Me I think he is a fantastic player who shows great potential, but would do much much better with better players around him at a proper big club. We cannot hope to hold onto our star player, and so must accept he may have to go if the price is right. We will have to make do with Downing and Alby, and scratch around with the likes of Bannan, Clark, Hogg, Gardner and Delph. But that is the way it is. Pay £25 million and we'll reluctantly have to let him go to a big club with ambition.

lets do a swap deal for a much better player like Nzogbia although we might face competition from the big boys like small heath. Young is pants, really can't see why opposition teams double mark him all the time or the rest of our such gifted squad look to give him the ball all the time. And his crossing, absolutely awful, how he comes so high in the crosses completed and goal assists stats every season eludes me, the computer must have him mixed up with someone else. Young going would be a major mistake, he is a quality player. his form has dipped from his own high standards but he is still quality and hasn't been helped by being our only attacking / creative threat. If others start to provide more threat, he will get more space and will return to the form he showed to begin with. For those suggesting Nzogbia as a suitable alternative firstly look at the stats and then look at who is interested in the players, there's a reason Ash attracts interest from Real, Barca, red scouse etc and Nzogbia is tracked by the noses.
