Hogg Latest To Pen Extension

Jonathan Hogg has become the latest youngster to pen a contract extension and has extended his stay at B6 until at 2013.

Speaking on the Official Site Hogg was delighted with the outcome and said:

'I've worked hard to get to this point and I know I have to continue to work hard if I want to keep improving. I love the club and I'm delighted to be here and playing a part in what we're trying to achieve.'

Hogg has been with the club since 15 and he's been delighted to see so many of his mates make the step into the first team this season, but he's obviously overjoyed that he's been called upon given the injury worries that he's had over the years, leading to over 12 months on the sidelines in his few short years.

He knows Dr Richard Steadman as well as Martin Laursen.

'There were times when I didn't think I would ever get to this point after the injury I suffered when I ruptured my lateral ligament and my lateral hamstring tendon and damaged my cruciate ligament.'

Christ what a list for a 22 year old!

'The other lads encouraged me at important times and I didn't give up. The harder you work in rehab, the stronger your legs and knees will be and thankfully it worked out for me.'

Onwards and upwards for yet another product of our Academy.

Very good news, and young Jonathan fully deserves the reward of this new extended deal. I've seen a lot of the young man over the last few years, at Bodymoor Heath, through the youth team and into the reserves, finally breaking into Houllier's starting eleven. He has a lot to offer us, and its safe to say that we very definitely haven't seen the best of him yet. Thought that he was naturally a little nervy during the early stages of his debut appearance against Manchester United, but he came into the game more as it progressed, and has since gone on to produce displays that have been solid if not spectacular. Well done Jonathan. Good Luck to you young man.

Get where you're coming from astvil123. I certainly wouldn't hold your breath though about Ash penning a new deal. I for one will be very surprised if he's at Brummagem B6 come next August. But things will move on, and its clear that AVFC is moving in a new direction, so its important that we get our quality youngsters signed up on these extended deals. They are the future of the club. Keep an eye out for Samir Carruthers and Benjamin Siegrist, two other very talented young lads at Villa Park. They too have big futures in the game.

P.Avfc maybe Ash is waiting to find out who the next manager is? I hope Ash likes Martin Jol, Kevin MacDonald or Chris Hughton. Talking about Ash is there anybody on here who agrees with GH that he should be played through the middle? I think we have really missed his delivery from the wings this season.

Thank GOD that we have heskey and bannan for the game slowly followed by NRC. i agree that A.Young lost his confidence but it just shows that we need to be more creative and now with our scottish messi back (as GH put it) we can get alot more attacking style play.

P.Avfc -how does a club show or not show ambition when the transfer window is closed? At least wait until the dissapointment of January is over before questioning the ambition of the club.
