General Krulak Statement On Current Situation

General Krulak Statement On Current Situation

General Krulak following a wave of comments and controversy over Gerard Houlliers comments and actions during and after the Liverpool game has left the following message in his thread on our forum:

1. To all Fans: I have read all of your comments regarding the L'pool game in general and the remarks made by GH in particular. I can assure you that I have passed your thoughts to Randy, the Board and to our Manager. I am unable to get into GH's mind not am I able to understand what he was feeling before, during and after the game...feelings that led him to make the comments he did. Equally, I am not going to try to minimize what he said...make excuses...or anything else. There is no denying what he said...it is there for all to see. What I don't know, as I indicated, is what was going thru his mind at the time...and neither does anyone else. What I DO KNOW is that what he put forth in his statement that was put out yesterday is far closer to the reality of how he feels. '....and I say emphatically that we will battle through.

Building a lasting success at Aston Villa is my focus and my commitment to this challenge is resolute. It is down to us collectively as a Club to work hard to bring joy and success to the fans because the fans are the most important. They are vocal and fantastic, which I stated when I first come here. They know we are in this together.' I know that his comments on Monday evening...and his actions...seem at odds to these words BUT, I have talked to him often, seen him at Bodymoor Heath, listened to him talk about the Club and what he is trying to do...and NONE of it is reflected in what happened on Monday. NOTHING can be done to retract what occurred...it is what it is. What I am saying is simply that I think I know how he feels about our Club and it is exactly what you would want him to feel. Again, I am just not in a position to talk about what GH was feeling when he walked into the Liverpool stadium...I only know what I have seen and heard as he has worked hard for our Club. We have a long way to go. Those who are seeking GH's head...who are asking that he be fired...have the right to feel that way...they pay for their tickets and can say what they want. At the same time, Randy and the Board need to keep focused on the overall goal...and we believe that GH is key to achieving that goal. His statement made it very clear that 'building lasting success at Aston Villa' is his goal...and it is our goal too!

2. Some fans have questioned Randy's heart for AVFC...that his owning the Browns impacts on the Villa. This is totally not true. Where was Randy on Monday? At the Liverpool game!! Where does he live much of the time? The UK. Randy doesn't own a home in Cleveland but does own one in B'ham! Yes, Randy owns two sports teams and is loyal to each....but NEVER question Randy's devotion to AVFC.

3. Believe me, there is not a single person at Villa Park who does not understand where we are right now and how the Fans feel. I cannot begin to tell you how much effort is being expended to get us on the right track. To think that we are just sitting back and watching all this happen is to not understand the Club. We are focused, driven, and working our bums off to get the ship back on track.

4. Carlos Cuellar: He suffered a Grade 1 tear left soleus muscle...he is now back to full training. Back to full training and absolutely ready to enter into a Premiership game is a decision made by the physio, Manager and player.

on a serious note, do we really expect the general to say anything else other than support the manager and randy. as for carlos, if he can make the bench then he can start for my money.

What an honest & true statement...It is clear that after recent results culminating in the the latest low following mondays shambles that passion is running high...Fans are rightly a little scared at the thought of relegation, but I know that come Saturday the fans will be supporting the team to those 3 points we desperately need...I really hope we can get them as it will relieve said pressure just a little, which gives us a bit of breathing space whilst we get injured players back & a chance to do some business in jan, and not forgetting a little bit of confidence back for the players...I am glad that the general has taken time to read, digest & comment on recent events & the fact that they are still very much in this & most definately do care about our club...fellow villans I ask you all just to hold your nerve for a few games longer as long term success is what we are after not short term...although as always, it will come down to results at the end of the day...lastly, as a proud serviceman, GENERAL I SALUTE YOU!!!!!

Sick to death of whinging fans. Read the statements for what they are - and then support the club. Whinging and moaning will get us nowhere - except into a worse position than we are in now. I agree with P.Avfc we want results not more talk. We also want supporters supporting not looking to rip things up every time there is a loosing patch.

Well I was at Anfield the other night, frozen to the core, thoroughly ticked off over the shocking, abysmal performance and effort put in by our lads, but not in the slightest was I offended by the fact that Gerard Houllier saw fit for whatever reason or other to acknowledge the Liverpool support, yet not applaud us, the Villa contingent. Didn't concern, upset, or offend me one jot. Neither did I think it concerned my fellow traveling Villa brothers and sisters, most of who had left the stadium anyway, long before the final whistle. Get over it. Houllier made a mistake or three on the night, mistakes he now probably regrets, and committed slurs I doubt that he even meant in the slightest. We've got way too much to worry and concern ourselves about that the actions of Houllier at Anfield, it was after all, always going to be an extremely emotional night for him. Jeez, I'm not even a Houllier fan, dont want him here, never did, but my problems with him concern his management of the club I have supported for nigh on fifty years, not for the fact that he couldn't be bothered to wave to me at Anfield on a bitterly cold and thoroughly depressing winters night, when all I wanted to do was to exit the ground, reach my car, and head home to Brum. Pan him for the results and performances, not for a 'sticks and stones' failing, that in the cold light of day, features amongst the least of our worries right now.

glensider: do you not think there is a connection between the team playing badly and the suspicion that Houllier is a sentimental, if not bitter, old man who is more interested in his Liverpool legacy than he is in managing Villa ?

exactly pancho - i think their is a direct link between poor leadership and poor performances. can you imagine Sir AF thinking an interview after a 3-0 dismal defeat is the correct time to be making "an attempt at humour?" can you see Jose Mourinhio smiling after Real Madrid got thumped by Chelsea? No, never, these guys would be furious, they would be in having a sort-out with the players because they only care about winning nothing else. The team needs to be inspired by the manager, who needs to lead by example. Maybe all our players should have touched the Liverpool badge before they ran out on the pitch, perhaps we should wear their kit?

sick note: you are right. And if it were the other way round Liverpool wouldn't put up with it for one second.
