'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Houllier And Luke Young Post Match Reaction

Gerard Houllier has told AV TV that despite the rough time Villa are going through at the moment, the team will stick together and things will 'click`.

He admits that the result last night against Blues hurt because he thought we were the best side.

'We played good football. I don't want to take anything away from Alex and his side. They won but I thought we deserved to win as much as they did. I was extremely disappointed both for the fans and for the players. I think we are improving, we are playing better, it's just at the moment the goals are not going into the back of the net."

He also says a couple of mistakes cost us and the players are 'stunned` having put in a good performance.

We now have Barry Bannan a doubt having picked up a groin injury and Ashley Young suspended for the Liverpool game.

Luke Young told www.avfc.co.uk that there is no point being 'downbeat` as they have important games coming up.

On the game v Blues, 'It's hard to take because it was such an opportunity for us but it's gone now. There's nothing we can do about it. I don't think there was much in the game. It was just that little bit of luck at the end where it's sort of come off me with Brad already going down. On another night we could have gone through. I don't think we played bad at all."

He also admits the team ARE 'hurting`.

Not much to add really is there? We had a great run v them but it was going to end one day. If not for the lack of a cutting edge (how many years have we said that?) we'd have been fine. If we just took our chances and also shot more when we got to oppo box instead of trying to walk it in.

Must say the sight of the blues fans invading the pitch to goad the Villans was awful. I don't remember us doing that after our 5-1 at Villa Park, so why did they need to last night? Shame, the minority now have all the attention.

MON walked, he's therefore an irrelevance, he turned his back on the mighty fans of this mighty club.
The Fear
MON is a big reason for this. His timing of his departure is something that can't ever be underestimated or forgiven!

Hgely disapointing night, and worrying times.... we need to turn this around and fast. Need some players back from injury asap, carlos back in for dunney and hopefully some signings ligned up for the start (not the end) of the transfer window!
