FA Cup Third Round Draw

FA Cup Third Round Draw

Well it's that time of year again, the FA Cup draw and what fun do we have this time round?

The game will be played the weekend of the 8th or 9th January and do we have a lower league test or a Premiership clash?

Well the answer is...Sheffield United - away.

Happy, sad or non committal?

Sheffield United are having a tough time in the league at the moment. Bramell Lane is always a difficult place to go though.

Happy with that. Albrighton, Heskey, Cuellar, Reo-Coker etc will be back from injury for it and maybe even delph or petrov.

As soon as I saw Sheff Utd, I knew we'd come out! I remember Dwight Yorke's audacious penalty in one tie, and being beaten 2-1 on a Saturday morning in another tie. Does my memory serve me correct?

Get our act together on the road, and we should quite comfortably progress, even if it takes a Villa Park replay. If our away performances remain as is, we'll be well tested. If you're going to be drawn away from home, you hope that its against a side from a lower league. We lost 3-1 on the 'Saturday morning' Stephen Jay Hawkings, while Dwight Yorkes audacious penalty saw us progress 1-0. I also remember going to Bramall Lane in the sixties for an F.A. Cup third round tie. We'd lost there 4-2 the previous week in a league game, but we turned the tables and won 2-0 in the Cup tie. Good memories of that one. One of my earliest away games, traveling up to Sheffield on Flights coaches of Stockland Green, and the Holte End went in force.

How funny to see Man Utd and Liverpool drawn together. One of them has to go..............shame

Was at the 2-0 game in the sixties and the 1-0 win with Dwight's penalty. Did Savo dive to get the penalty? Lots of snow and the one stand hadn't been built yet. Like Narnia! Flights coaches from Stockland Green! Went on them a fair few times!

There you go krfeskivilla. Flights Coaches from Stockland Green, almost an institution. Those were the days eh. Yes the 2-0 win at Bramall Lane was one of my first away games. Stumpy McLeod scored one of our goals, up the other end from where we all were. We played in an all sky blue strip with claret trimmings.

This is becoming memory lane. Only problem is I remember it - how old are we?
