Fieldy: Barry Bannan has promised supporters that being more clinical in front of goal will click soon and the team are working hard on it. Speaking on the Official Site after our ever so slightly embarrassing loss to Blackburn, Bannan was adamant that the squad would pull together and soon go on another unbeaten run....this time preferably by notching up wins. Speaking on the Blackburn game itself, the Bananaman said: 'It was a tough game, we knew coming here you've got to accept that they are going to be good at set pieces, get in your face and the goal just before half time killed us really.' Fieldy: Good words from our stand in skipper today as he admits the daft errors that have crept into our defensive displays this season, simply cannot continue. Speaking on the Official Site Dunne admitted that stupid fouls, daft moments of dreaming and all the other ways to describe our defending of late have to be brought to an end as we have lost way too many winnable points already this season. The Dunneymonster admits that there's no single thing that they can point to as a cause of our, often woeful, defending this season but especially as we are so thin upfront at the moment and we are blooding so many youngsters, it's up to the experienced players to step up to the mark and perform above duty...not below it. Full quotes: Richard Dunne With That Kind Of Defeat

Fieldy: Barry Bannan is over the moon with his new contract extension that will keep him at Villa Park until 2014. Speaking to the Official Site as the Bananaman posed for photos, the diminutive little Scotland debuting midfielder declared he was 'over the moon' and delighted to commit his immediate future to us. 'Everything this season has been unbelievable, I could never have imagined it going so well for me. To get the deal is icing on the cake really.' Full article: Bannan Commits To B6

astvil123: Thought this was worth a mention in an article because it is a big matter that needs addressing! Aston Villa were known for being the 'Set-Piece Kings' not too long ago and suddenly we have lost our ability to defend a set-piece. I just wondered if it was just me or if anybody else has realised the following: Villa Set-Pieces - Conceded From 9!

Small update on the official site over midfielder Fabian Delph. The tough tackler is making good progress and is currently in the USA in a bid to help his revovery. Assistant manager Gary McAllister is hoping Delph will be fit for January. He said: 'He is doing fantastically well. He's gone over to the States to break his rehab up and he's done more training with a specialist over there just to break up the routine. It's been a long time out for him so he's had five or six days over there and then he'll be back.' He also says there is no doubt that Delph is talented and was consulted by Villa when we looked to sign him.

Nice positive post from stennyvilla: I think the team and Houllier are heading decisively in the right direction. This could be the season I've been waiting for. A 'transitional' season where we start to play proper football on the ground, making max advantage of out talented youngsters would do me - but there is plenty of time to turn things round in the League and do better than that. We look with added punch up front as if we can challenge Liverpool and Bolton for another 6th place finish - and this could then be the start of bigger things to come.
