'If It's Football, It's Vital'

BUMPER Aston Villa Transfer Talk

Only bit of gossip in the press yesterday was in The Mirror linking Villa with Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson. Apparently Villa would take the 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international on loan or permanently if they get the chance.

Today is a bit more fruitful though!

A report by Dave Kidd and Alan Nixon in The People claims we are after 22-year-old Danish Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner in January as part of the 30million spending spree. Bayern Munich are also interested.

The People are also linking us to French international midfield (or 'destroyer` a they call him) Yann M`Vila. The 20-year-old Rennes player would cost around 9million according to the paper.

Also named, Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick and the link to striker Djibril Cisse returns.

The News of the World claim that Roy Hodgson is still wanting Ashley Young and will over Ryan Babel as part of an 18million deal. Sorry, did they say 18million? Ok, trot on!

Talking about Ash, Gerard Houllier says in the Daily Star Sunday:'Every time a player is available, Tottenham are mentioned. I'm sure Harry Redknapp must be wondering what's going on, but I can tell you the reports about Ashley and Spurs are not keeping me awake at night. That's because I can say here and now that Ashley Young will not be going anywhere in January. Absolutely not. They would have to buy this club for that to happen. They would have to come in with a ridiculous amount of money.'

This one might make sense, according to The Mirror Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce will bid for John Carew. Big Sam does have a tendency to go for 'out of favour` players so who knows?!

Only other thing I can see is on Tribal saying that Chicago Fire and former Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg is interesting Houllier for a second half of season loan to bring in a bit more experience.
