'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Villa Times - 15/11/2010

Unoial Villa News...

Bit of good news... or should that be a bit more good news? Gabby Agbonlahor has signed a new four-and-a-half year contract and says he thinks he will be at Villa for life. Take note mercenary players, a player with love for a club and loyalty. Gabby told the official site: 'I can't see myself playing for any other club.' Full article: He's Fast And Scores... A great interview by Ian Holloway after the Villa game, a right old rant: Holloway Goes Mental Post Villa Game Conference

Steve Wade: Seasiders bring relief for Villa Cnut, waiting for the tide to turn! I was amused to read Jack Gaughan's interview on Vital Villa this week, as he complained about his beloved Blackpool being patronised by the smug egoists of the Premiership. Get used to it, I thought, as I remembered my feelings when I overheard some Gunners fan patronising Villa not so long ago. Full column: Something For The Weekend (307)

Fieldy: Jonathan Hogg has described making his debut against Manchester United as 'brilliant' and even better he said the fans were 'tremendous'. Far more important than that though, Gerard Houllier has given me a new nickname to use...'Hoggy'. Speaking on the Official Site today it was clear Hogg couldn't have been more pleased with his Premiership bow. 'It was brilliant, not many people can say they made their debut against Manchester United. I absolutely loved it.' Full article: Hogg - Debut 'Was Brilliant'

Fieldy: Headline courtesy of Prepared! Gerard Houllier has confirmed that the Dunneymonster is suffering from a recurring knee injury. Following the brief comment about Dunne's knee problems directly following the Manchester United clash, Gerard Houllier has expanded a little on it when speaking to SSN. The Dunneymonster did play all 90 minutes at the weekend, but has been forced to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland squad who will face Norway on Wednesday due to swelling. Fieldy: Not one of my proudest moments for a headline, but ignoring that, the second string are in action tonight at Hinckley United as they face Wet Spam. Our next generation are finding their feet in the reserves and we already find ourselves leading the Southern Group and being a point ahead of Arsenal. Details: Reserves To Hinckley The Hammers

Strong and exciting words from David Pleat in his blog for The Guardian where the former Spurs and Sheffield Wednesday - amongst others - manager says Villa have an exciting future due to our youngsters coming through. Pleat then points at Marc Albrighton as being potentially as good as, if not better than, David Beckham adding, 'He is an exciting talent'. Full article: Marc Albrighton - Bends It Like Beckham?

David Pleat speaking highly of our young talent certainly makes for good reading. We've had to put up with a lot of negativity in the media since the events of the past summer.
