'If It's Football, It's Vital'

£30million + To Spend & Another Spurs Swapshop

Oh my lord... really?

The People have come up with a transfer rumour and a half today... a possible swap with Ashley Young going to White Hart Lane and Aaron Lennon coming the other way.

LOL....

Or at least I think 'LOL`... who knows in the crazy world of football?

Harry Redknapp was quoted recently saying he was not after Young but (cliche warning) football is a funny old game. Not this funny though surely? 'We've got Gareth Bale - what would I do with him? I can't get Niko Kranjcar on the pitch; he's a fantastic player. What am I going to do with another left winger, give myself another headache?'

Liverpool are also said to be interested in Young.

The People also claim to know the budget that Gerard Houllier has been given by Randy Lerner and say the transfer kitty is around £30million.

Alan Nixon of The People says Houllier will get a 'stunning` January kitty of £30million.

People Sport also claim that the following are amongst our targets:

Manchester United`s Michael Carrick,
Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis McGugan
Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz.

So the report says we`ll have the £17million from the Milner sale, another £10m + some more if some players are sold in January.

The News of the World meanwhile say that John Carew will leave in January for a price tag of around £2.5million.

This bi-annual spurs-villa swap shop is so much fun, not provided a single transfer downn the years but months of entertainment. Can I try one? A source close to both clubs is quoted as saying as saying Emile Heskey is on his way to White Hart Lane in January in a move which will see Robbie Keane finally reunite with his boyhood club
Phartman87
ive read we have a 48m transfer kitty also. Might be media rubbish but if we have then it would be great to get in 2 quality players which will push us up there with the best.
P.Avfc
that 48 million is 48m euro which is about 30million pounds... i think you may have seen it on bloomberg!

Lennon isn't half the player Young is, never mind Albrighton. He's injury prone as well, and we all know what happens when quick players start getting injuries regularly.

agree Phartman, it is so funny, we are linked to Keane, Jenas, Bentley, have been to Defoe, Crouch, who else? Probably more. Now there is another swap that isn't going to happen!
The Fear
Carew can go anytime please as he's not that interested anymore. We did look well rounded against manpoo but i feel we do still need a big fast forward. Shame Delboy isn't another foot taller.

it will be interesting to see where Houllier goes in the transfer market. he inherited the squad, so how he puts his mark on the team is important..

Scott Parker and the next Thiery Henry please Mr Houlier, and you can keep the change for the summer. PS - I'll happilly share the driving with you "Fatloser"

I know the press linking us with Lyon players is just lazy journalism. But obviously there is a chance that Houllier will choose to look there, and if either of those 2 Lyon players linked end up at Villa then i'll be very happy. Gomis in particular, he looks an incredible player, to good to be on Lyons bench, although that is only because they choose to play 1 upfront and have a striker they paid like 18million for. Maybe he'll play against England on Wednesday and we can get a good look at him. He's exactly the kind of striker we're missing imo.
