John Carew Rips Into Gerard Houllier

John Carew Rips Into Gerard Houllier

So John Carew wants out in January then?

The player has slated Gerard Houllier in the Norwegian press today. ( ://www.vg.no/sport )

Houllier had told him it was time to fight for a new deal at Villa or to put himself into the shop window by playing to the best of his ability. Quotes here: Click Here

Nothing wrong with a word GH said there, we do want the awesome (albeit that isn`t very often) Carew on the field. Not the lazy disinterested 'where do I pick my wages up from again` type we also see.

Anyway, and wait for the 'misquoted` story to follow, Carew blasted:

"If he wants me to fight for a contract, he should speak to me directly and not through the media. This is disrespectful to me and to the fans who sing my name week in week out".

I feel more disrespected by some of his disinterested, tame appearances to be honest, how about you?

Also asked about his previous time with Houllier he said: "Lets just say it wasn't free of conflicts'- On him and Houllier's relationship at Lyon." Adding, if the translation is right, "He was badly prepared upon taking the Villa job".

Lovely, an argument through the press!

I`ll get Villan of the North to verify this translation!

Seems to me that maybe GH does say too much to the press: Ireland needs to work harder, Delfonousa needs to ne more 'muscled' Varew needs to fight etc. BUT that does not warrant an attack by Carew. It always seemed likely that these two had unfinished business from Lyon and JC should not get carried away by his name being sung - he has very many more off days than on. The season is also getting hard enough with injuries and mediocre results, we don't need disharmony too. What GH said was probably right, but does he need to make his feelings so obvious?

There's a very simple thing to say about all of this.

"If he wants me to fight for a contract, he should speak to me directly and not through the media."

Perhaps John if you believe that, you should listen to your own words and not respond via the media!

With regard to Mr H's "outbursts" with Messrs Ireland, Delfouneso and Carew, it seems to me that this is his way of saying I will run the team in my own way. Under the previous administration, there were many criticisms made here regarding the rigidness of the team - and for whatever reasons that was the way MON ran and side. Mr H obviously follows a policy quite diverse with his rotation policy. Only time will tell if it will work properly. Law of averages say that sometimes his selections will come good. To me it was patently obvious yesterday that the side played much better with Ciaran Clark as the defensive midfielder when NRC was substituted. Bannan was a revelation. Oddly, some of the best touches came from Ireland in the short space of time he was on the field. We all have to accept at the moment that he is getting the side to play the way HE wants it to play - and that includes rollocking players whom he sees that don't pull their weight - and fair enough. Only time will tell if he is successful and, in truth, at present, it isn't happening. We all want the team to be successful and if it's under Mr H, so be it, if not, well let's wait and see.

If Carew read GH's comments in a decent way, he'd see the challenge adn that GH said he is awesome and unstoppable on his day. Wish someone would slate me like that!
