Now John Carew Is OUT As Well

Has our luck totally gone?

With both Gabby Agbonlahor and Emile Heskey out with injuries, we were already light on strikers.

Now it appears that John Carew could also be out for up to three weeks following a training ground injury.

Apparently Carew has torn his calf during a challenge with Brad Friedel.

Step forward Nathan Delfouneso? Has to be played now surely?!

Bizarre timing because Gerard Houllier has only just challenged Carew to prove his worth for a new Villa contract or to put himself in the shop window.

The Villa boss said on the Official Site that Carew on his day is 'awesome` and that the striker can be 'impossible to stop` adding, "We want the top John Carew that I know. "

So the opportunity to impress might well have come and gone?

On Heskey he has gone into a bit more details as well saying the striker will have an "arthroscopic operation." The damage was picked up when he was trying to volley a ball and he twisted his supporting leg.

'I thought it was a cruciate the way he fell. It's just the meniscus that's the problem. But it's the medial. When it's lateral it can be two or three months but when it's the medial it is one month."

This is beyond a joke now. MON is laughing somewhere. I guess Weimann on the bench? To be fair though, I'd rather have Nath up front than that passenger Carew. I've got a feeling he's not injured at all, rather Houllier has dropped him for excessive partying...he's down in London all the bloody time.

I reckon in the Fonz's room there's a bunch of voodoo dolls with pins sticking out of them. I hope he gets a few matches now. OK, the pressure will be on, but let's get an answer on how good he is one way or the other !
Pancho Villan
Right, that's it...I'm bringing my boots tomorrow. I was top scorer for my school 4 years in a row, 26 goals in my last season. Must warrant at least 7 minutes no?
olofthegreat
i scored 14 in one match!! Pity it was 30 years ago, but i reckon i could still put in a better performance than John 'Bump & Grind' carew!!
Kuffit
Tommorow's headline....Nathan Delfouneso out injured for a month.

Don't forget that Ash can play as a striker as well.
astonguerrilla
Oh my God - have you ever known a team to only have one natural striker available?? It's time for the Fonz to step up - if he's going to make it this is his big chance

Agree with VV - this has got to be Nath's big chance.... i think he'll grab it with both hands--- does mean we will have to play the ball along the floor though.

P.Avfc...i much prefer tomorrows headline saying...the fonz bags a hatrick :-) however i fear another nil...

What on earth is going on? We're dropping like flies. A very worrying situation. Great opportunity for Nathan, he must grab it with both hands. Trouble is Nathan offers no physical presence up front whatsoever, so he has turn from a ******cat into a lion. Makes our task tomorrow that bit harder, but we're still more than capable of bringing all three points back to Brum. From adversity, hopefully will come application, additional effort, and eventually, triumph. Go for it Houllier. Even though injuries are cruelly hampering our plans and hopes, no more of this negative nonsense, lets take the game to The Cottagers, and get our campaign back on the tracks.
glensider
Well said Glensider. No excuses, we still have 11 players - just. Salifou any good up front?
Gordonsleftboot
2 or 3 years ago Roma had no fit strikers at all, nobody, not even a youth striker... the fonz has it in him to do well i think! he needs to take this chance!
