Albrighton Tipped For England Honours

Albrighton Tipped For England Honours

Ashley Young has tipped Marc Albrighton to work his way into the England set up sooner rather than later.

Speaking on the Official Site Ashley was full of praise for new wing wonder Albie who has positively exploded into a household name this season given his performances. A fact backed up by two Player of the Month awards topped off with impressing for the England U21's to boot.

'Marc has won two player of the month awards and it's been fully deserved, we said a while back he will be one of the ones coming through and he's definitely shown that. He's taken his opportunity with both hands. I don't see why he can't be challenging me and others for an England place very soon.'

High praise indeed, but hardly ill thought out. Albie has a way to go yet, his hype is well deserved at the moment but he has a lot left to learn, and he's still to grow into the player who can dominate games or take games by the scruff of the neck out wide when we are struggling but I doubt you could find a person who doubts he will grow into that type of important player over the coming years.

His first challenge is to find the consistency, and then overcome the attention he will get as teams figure him out. If he can manage that the Premiership could well be his oyster.

Praise indeed for young Albie, yet another of our emerging young talents who has grabbed his opportunities this season with both hands. Quite a tribute there from Ashley Young, and who can say that young Marc doesn't deserve such praise. A lot of learning and developing still ahead of him, but you have to wonder how good he can be should he continue to progress in this manner.

I thought when I first witnessed hm out at Bodymoor Heath, three/four years ago, playing for the youngsters, how much he reminded me very much of a winger from the past, namely Ray Graydon. Like Ray, Marc should also weigh in with some important goals each and every season, and he (Marc) is also well capable of whipping in some superb crosses from the right flank, which many of you will recall, was also very much a Ray Graydon trademark.
