Ciaran Clark has today agreed a new contract extension with Villa that will keep him here until the summer of 2014.
Speaking on the Official Site after the paperwork was done, Clark said he was delighted to be extended his deal and that he was looking forward to making a real impact on the first team.
The now Republic of Ireland soon to be international, has been at Villa since he was a wee 12 years old and has impressed at all levels throughout the club and played a big part in our treble winning reserve side as he skippered them to victory after victory.
Leading the team is nothing new, as he also held that honour for England's U18, U19's and U20's.
'I'm delighted to sign a new deal and commit my future to the club. I feel I'm at a club that is progressing and provides an environment in which the young players coming through all want to excel.'
Not only has this season been good for Clark personally with ever growing appearances, but he's proud to see the boys he's played alongside for years making the step up aswell.
'The likes of Albrighton, Bannan, Delfouneso, Lichaj, we've all come through together and this underlines the quality of the youth structure at the club.'
Houllier has already placed a fair amount of faith in him, and Clark has repaid that with steady, and improving performances. Big things have long been expected from the lad, and he's starting to deliver on that now. He has a fair way to go yet of course, and he has plenty left to learn so it's mouthwatering to think of the type of assured performances we'll be getting from him in another year or two.
As a final note, Clark adds:
'I feel at home at the club and it would be fantastic to be a part of the success which all the lads here are striving for.'
Should put a smile on most people's faces I'd think.
