I dont think 7m is a bargain for santa cruz, he is frequently injured and not the player he was at blackburn and i dont think he is a player we need. I would prefer a player for the future, someone new from a foreign league who will make a huge impact...This is why we got houllier he knows his foreign players well and he knows talent when he see's it.

Another striker who doesn't score... No thanks. Got a couple of those already, ta!

"Santa Claus" Cruz can score goals with his head for fun. Could be a real good investment. I think if anything he is the one risk we should take. Rest of the signing we make should be safe bets we can rely on.

P.Avfc who is this wonderkid that will be plucked out for a couple of million then? Everyone is quick to condemn players without actually coming up with any alternatives - Santa Cruz would be a big improvement to our strike force without question. All he needs is match sharpness and he'll be back

Well said Valiant Villan, couldn't agree more. If I'm honest I think Citeh would actually take £5m if we played hard ball with them. The reason Santa Cruz hasn't been played is due to the vast amounts of talent in front of him. You can be a class act and still not get in the side at Eastlands. Bellamy was their number one player last season and now he's at Cardiff! Well worth a punt at £5-7m or even an end of season loan would do for me.

Valiant Villan when did i say 'wonderkid' i want an actual goalscorer who aint injured every 2 weeks and is consistent. Hoarau from psg is a great goalscorer and got a lot of years left he would be much better than buyin a striker who will be just be a short term replacement for carew. 7m would be thrown fown the drain.

Yeah Hoarau is doing well in the French league - remember Mateja Kežman - he scored 105 goals in 122 games in the Dutch League (stronger than French league) - absolutely unheard of goal record. He scored 4 goals in 25 games for Chelsea and flopped. It's all very well gambling on players in weaker leagues but we need to balance that risk against players that we KNOW have the capability to do it week in week out in the PL and Santa Cruz is capable.

All too often the guy is spending time out injured, and he's only experienced one full season throughout his whole career when he's actually bagged a decent haul. No, not for us. We can, and have to, do a lot better.
