'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Reo-Captain

With Stiliyan Petrov looking at a 2 month spell on the sidelines, Gerard Houllier has selected the Hokey-Cokey as our stand in captain.

Speaking on the Official Site as the club made the announcement Houllier praised Coker for his attitude and work rate and said no one deserves the armband more in his eyes.

'Just from what I see, his attitude and his work rate has been consistent. In terms of performance, he knows exactly his role in the team and he has improved a lot.'

Richard Dunne has also been made vice captain.

In what may well become my word of the week, he added.

'Exemplarity is a very important factor, that's why he's the captain.'

It's certainly a major change around for Hokey who was odds on out the door just before the start of the season but Gerard has liked what he's seen and it can't be too long before a new deal is thrashed out.

'I hope he will stay with us, it's too early to say but Paul Faulkner has started to have talks with his agent, he knows I want to keep him.'

Yes this is the right appointment

As much as his abilities on the ball leave a lot to be desired compared to some of the more flashy players in the league, I'm well happy to hear that Reo should sign a new contract and has been appointed captian in Petrovs absence. His work rate and commitment to the cause since Houllier came in has been an example to the rest of the team. To comment on a different matter, Albarnista hit it on the head regarding Dunne this season - the guy doesn't seem half the player he was last season so far this term, I'd be happy to see Ciaran Clark step in but with his appointment to Vice-Captain it seems Houllier has no plans of dropping him from his first choice XI.

Lets hope he signs a new contract as well

Great stuff, hopefully we go on a winning spree and when Petrov is due return he cant get in the team, we need to replace him, in my eyes his days are over.

Carlos is fine, he took part in the open day training session.

Just read the interview on SSN. Quote from GH that NRC is "a fighter"... Don't we all know that!! Especially MON!

To be honest Hokey is playing in the same way as when MON was here. I liked him then and still do. Don't understand why everyone says things have changed. They haven't - but the hype has. Strange world.
