Redknapp NOT After Ashley Young

Redknapp NOT After Ashley Young

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has admitted he has tapped up Ashley Young.... but obviously only in jest!

'I'm tapping him up - I've been round his house a couple of times. We've done the deal; he's okay.'

He actually makes a very valid point though, with the fantastic Gareth Bale in the Spurs team, why would he need Ash as well?

'We've got Gareth Bale - what would I do with him? I can't get Niko Kranjcar on the pitch; he's a fantastic player. What am I going to do with another left winger, give myself another headache?'

He says Spurs are already strong on the wing and that he has at no time tapped up Young.

So there you go. That won't stop the next paper report when news is quiet... Young To Spurs...!

If Redknapp inst't interested in Young then presumably he's been watching him for the past 18 months. What top team would be interested in him based on the form he's shown in that period? My biggest fear is that Young signs a massive contract in the summer, having held the club to ransom, and we see five more years of the distinctly unimpressive form of the last 18 months. Let him go in January if a club is interested in making a reasonable offer for him. Otherwise, ship him out in the summer for whatever we can get, and reinvest the money in young players we can develop - or better still, develop some our talented youngsters - assuming they haven't got fed up with a lack of chances and want out.

Valiant Villan, O'Neill getting the Liverpool job would be a dream; we'd get top dollar for Young, and Liverpool would be destined to be a lower top-half team for the forseeable future - assuming things went well for them.

I didn't think we were allowed to say anything negative about Ashley Young on this site...blimey! If he does go, who's going to fall over at the slightest touch, throw his arms up in the air and then sulk for the rest of the game?

And when he goes, everyone will be saying about the lack of ambition, yawn

AVbornandbred, he's been excellent for Villa, up until about 18 months ago when, apart from the odd exception, he's massively underperformed for whatever reason. That he continued to be one of our biggest attacking threats despite being so sub-par tells you everything you need to know about how poor we've been in that period. Young has been well and truly shown up by Albrighton since the youngster got his chance. Albrighton is a very good young player with plenty of potential, but a player of Ashley Young's reputation and ability should not be made to look second-rate in comparison.

oh yh awful bt still beating all of spurs midfield players last season in terms of setting up ans scoring goals yet we can all agree it was his worst season to date. and kranjcar pahah go back to ur own site with this bs, even though young is not up to his normal standard atm he still sets up and scores in most of the games he plays and therefore he is vital to our team whereas kranjcar dont even get a game for spurs let alone do any of that and i doubt any of ur players will set up and score as many goals overall as him this season no matter how good they play and no matter how crap he seems to play although hes started playing alright now and will probably be getting back to form soon which is a worry for u lot although u will still finish higher than us unfortunately

Valiant - when has Young held the club to ransom? all of his comments about the Villa have been totally positive and he has said repeatedly that he is ready to start talks whenever the club are Albarnista- you go on about giving youth a chance like its the be all and end all. If they're good enough they'll play - simple. If you want to see them more go and watch the youth / reserve games, they're cheaper than the first team matches but unfortunately not on TV very often.
