Superman Looking Forward To Black Cats Reunion

Stephen Ireland is determined to make his mark later today and kick start his Villa career properly if selected to face off against the Sunderland.

Speaking on the Official Site ahead of the clash, Ireland went all nostalgic for Sunderland given they were the opponents on his infamous Superman trunks day, and he'd like nothing more than to get his name on the scoresheet again.

'Last time I played there I scored there and did quite well. I need to get off the mark and start scoring and finding my touch but it is coming.'

He couldn't have got closer against Chelsea, and with a couple of inches difference as the ball flew past Cech he could've well won us the game, so if he can put that right against Sunderland, nobody would complain....well apart from the Sunderland fans.

'I think we can match them and out battle them because I think we've got a hungry group here and I hope we'll do well. We drew against the Champions, now we have to start picking up points.'

1-3 anybody, Ireland, Dunne and Downing?

I'd definitely start Stephen at The Stadium Of Light, a happy hunting ground for us during the Martin O'Neill era. He's one highly talented footballer who will prove to be a major asset to the club once he gets fully up to speed.

Disappointing showing Stephen, totally ineffective. He looked lost.
