Credit to Downing for putting in a much improved performance, though it's pretty clear that there was a strong 'sympathy' vote for him, in that his performance was measured against a low standard previously set by the player. Still, support from the fans will be an encouragement to him, and hopefully he can continue to play at a decent standard. Mind you, I'd still have Young and Albrighton ahead of him in the wingers pecking order. Hopefully competition for places will bring the best out of these players - and if Young's form doesn't pick up in the near future, I would hope that Houllier had the testicular fortitude to drop him.
Albarnista
Oh noes!!! i agree with Albarnista, i would put young and albrighton ahead of him. Sorry Stuwee
