Debut League Goal And Loss

Debut League Goal And Loss

Marc Albrighton has admitted he has mixed feelings following the Spurs game, he's obviously happy to have grabbed his debut league goal but of course we didn't get all three points.

Luke Young has already backed up previously comments that had Villa gone in 1-0 at halftime the game would've no doubt been different and Albie also holds disappointment that we were unable to see the first half out, as given his goal and our overall play he's not alone in thinking we deserved at least a point from the encounter.

Speaking on the Official Site today Albie said:

'We deserved a point, we played some really good stuff so it was disappointing. We weren't happy with the first goal, I think we have to see out the half in that situation. We've got to be more resilient.'

Given our overall performance and the injury to Heskey which did change the balance of the game it's hard to be tough on them following that result, because the good certainly outweighs the bad. What is clear though is we still have trouble defending a 1-0 lead and we absolutely have to learn to kill teams off when we are on top. We lose way too many points during a season because we don't go 2 or 3 up during our spells of the game.

That should hopefully come in time though.

speaking on his own goal, he was obviously delighted though.

'It was great to score the goal, but obviously it's special scoring my first senior goal and hopefully I can take that on now and score a few more.'

Before he grudgingly added:

The gloss was taken off a lot by the result.'
