Ashley and Warnock in England Squad

Ashley Young has been a revelation in his new role behind the front man for Villa this season to accommodate youngster Marc Albrighton into the side, and his form has been rewarded with selection in the latest England Squad.

Ashley is joined by Stephen Warnock, who was at the World Cup apparently!!

Montenegro provide the opposition, in a game to be played at Wembley (cue more moans and groans about the playing surface no doubt, I watch non-league football and there is nothing to complain about IMO).

Kevin Davies is the shock inclusion in the side after Emile Heskey 'allegedly' refused to come back out of retirement following his own new found confidence and form.

The full squad is as follows:-

Ben Foster (Birmingham City), Robert Green (West Ham United), Joe Hart (Manchester City); Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Joleon Lescott (Manchester City), John Terry (Chelsea), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa); Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Joe Cole (Liverpool), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Tom Huddlestone (Tottenham Hotspur), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham Hotspur), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City), Ashley Young (Aston Villa); Darren Bent (Sunderland), Peter Crouch (Tottenham Hotspur), Kevin Davies (Bolton), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).

windlespur, I don't take to people messing with my site. Don't do it, or I remove you from the network. Would really rather not do that but not having the hard work put in here or on other sites ruined. Cheers.

someone please remind me what swp has done this season to put himself ahead of downing and is it too early to think about albie?
deaf dean
Has SWP actually played this year? I think Downing may have talked himself out of being selected for England with his comments about Capello and being dropped before the World Cup.
Ams78
Downing is rubbish, can't even beat a player 1 v 1. England need pace out wide, he is slow and doesn't even have tricks to beat a man. Young should be in the 11 no doubt.

I rate Lennon highly - but he is not doing it for us this year, so why a call up? Proves a point made by LA.
Windlespur
Stewart Downing must surely be getting closer to a recall. The guy has certainly impressed me this season to date.

SWP before Stewie is an absolute travesty. Unbeleiveable. He has done pretty much nothing for England.
