'If It's Football, It's Vital'

We Deserved More -The Spurs Verdict

Gerard Houllier was bitterly disappointed to not take at least a point from todays clash at White Hart Lane, believing our performance was more than worthy of a proper result.

Speaking on the Official Site following the disappointing 2-1 loss, Houllier believed it was a very high quality performance from the lads today and that he certainly had mixed feelings following his first defeat since arriving at B6.

'I think I have got mixed feelings because at the same time that I am proud of their performance, I'm disappointed with the result.'

Our same old problem of taking our chances was certainly at the fore again today and even Houllier admits it is probably the only element of the performance that we can blame on ourselves.

'The only thing we can blame ourselves for is the fact that we didn't take our chances - a couple of times we could have sealed the game.

'We gave a good account of ourselves, at times we passed the ball extremely well. In terms of the quality of the play, the effort, the character, the players are really on the right track.'

What makes it worse is Houllier believes that this was the best performance he's seen the lads put in so far.

As for Emile of the Heskey, he suffered a deadleg following Albie's opening goal but Houllier doesn't believe he'll have any problems being fit for the Chelsea game.

'It's a bad dead leg, he couldn't sprint, he seemed all right and he tried to keep on going but he couldn't.'

So we have it, the first reversal under the Frenchman but it's hard to be too disappointed because of the performance put in.

Now if only we had some striking options we could be laughing - said the same thing for 3 seasons though haven't we. Maybe that'll finally change now.

You do miss Gabby, because then you can have your traditional 10 players in the penalty box then bomb it to Gabby to chase

We do seem to get our fair share of "others" commenting negatively don't we. Sounds like a good game with some positives too. Just shame about the result. I will be praying for Mr Fear who has to spend some of next week with a load of Spurs fans so he posted elsewhere!

Mr H doesn't think a forward is high priority .... WE MUST GET SOME NEW QUALITY FORWARDS AT VILLA PARK

You had the extra man in Clattenberg and you still lost, 1, 0 And ya Fecked it up lol
Born&BredSpur
Oh, my god, some of the immaturity on here is amazing...we won the european cup, you won the uefa cup...blah de blah blah. What matters the most is the last game, and we won that. Not easily, I grant you, it was a hard fight, but Van Der Man proved enough in the end. Good luck with your next game, and we'll see you again at Villa Park in a bit. How hard is that to say?

Not too long ago Spurs lost to West Ham....Not to long ago Villa lost to Newcastle...both teams have little between and both will be up and down this season as it looks a funny ole league this year. It's a funny thing - I like Spurs as a club, but hate the fans and I hate City as a club but like the fans....it's always a tough call on who to root against more lol.
los_angeles_villan
Good game hats off to villa came here and had a go...........Our patched up defence struggled, but the truth is I think you need a goalpoacher upfront. We just need to keep grinding out results like this until we get over our injury crisis.
WestStandEnclosure
was an important win WestStandEnclosure, as you say, if you can grind out the results, especially against a decent team like Villa, then it bodes well. We do need a poacher, I think we have one in Delfouneso actually but the set up might not think he is quite ready at his age. We need to buy a striker or two for sure
The Fear
AvdomFC,,,err which Uefa Cup do you mean ?? we won it twice mate, not one trick ponies like some, are we !
Born&BredSpur
Oh and BTW P.AVFC,,,You say Villa are as good as Spurs, yet you go on the Vital Arsenal site and in your own words say,,,,At least I know my team are crap!.....speaks volumes of you really, dont it ! you need to work out if your running with the fox, or chasing with the hounds!!!!
