Villa Transfer Gossip + Petrov Remains Captain

Villa Transfer Gossip + Petrov Remains Captain

According to a brief report in the Daily Mail today Villa and Everton both want 21-year-old Racing Genk's £5m rated Belgian international striker Jelle Vossen.

HE has 13 goals in 9 league games and four goals in Europe this season. Strange link though as he only signed a five year contract with his club last month.

In other news, the papers are today quoting Gerard Houllier saying that Stiliyan Petrov will remain the Villa captain.

'I won't change captain. The captain is not only the leader on the field. He is a leader by example. He knows what we want to do anyway. I prefer to rely on a group of leaders, two or three players - not only one person. One can be the technical leader, one can be the energiser, one can be the captain.'

Let Sidwell go in Jan, we need to sort deals out for Carew and NRC urgently.

Yeah agreed delirium but don't think Houllier was implying either as technical and energiser. We have several leaders on the pitch, for me Petrov is actually one of the less influential players. But in GH we trust! :-)

Petrov is a 'decent' player, after 60 mins he is useless and just running on empty, but houllier brought him off sunady so thats a sign. Dont get the comment though, if he had sense houllier he wouldnt come into the club changing the line up, formation and captain straight away as it could upset and unsettle players and thats just not what you want straight away. The line up will shape out after 10 games i bet, and we will see if petrov is still the captain when houllier gets the players trust and can change things the way he wants.

Not really sure if NRC is for us. Can't, in all honesty, remember a time when he has truly shone through and stamped his authority in our midfield. Also feel that Carlos is of more benefit to the team than Luke Young. Defence with him, Dunny, Ginger and Warnock, leaked fewer goals last season (with the exception of Chelsea). I know Luke has played well, but there is a better understanding with the other four together. Have to say as well, don't know how we could leave Dunny out of any side of ours when he's fit!

AVFCin0z the game against chelsea LY was RB. P. Avfc i would have to agree with you on that actually with regards to changing things straight away wouldnt be sensible really would it. and as for duney i cant imagine him on the bench but who you gunna drop would be harsh to drop any1 really and i dont like carlos on the right he aint comfortable out there
