Fabian Delph Progress Slow But Sure

Quite a few Vital Villa readers have been asking as to the progress of Villa midfielder Fabian Delph.

The head of media told me today: 'When the injury occurred the prognosis was nine months, so we`re still some way off that. But Fabian is making good progress and he remains on course.'

And General Krulak has just updated in his thread after being asked the very same saying:

'I spoke to the folks at Bodymoor Heath and they report that Delph is making slow but sure progress.'

Adding, 'Unfortunately, this is one of those injuries that you need to be very careful with the rehabilitation...if you push it too hard, you can set things back quite a bit. It involves the player knowing his own body and the physios ensuring that we don't progress too fast. Right now, things look very good....Fabian is working hard...his head is in what the Team is doing...he wants to get back on the field and into training and eventually into the play of the game.'

Can't wait for his return. He'll provide the steel for the middle we're currently lacking.

I was SO excited about Fabian and equally gutted when he got injured. He looked like such a talent the little we saw him. Good luck Fabian.

Agreed - Fabian & Gary Gardiner

is fabian really that good?
black_villian
Domingo, are you here? ...I logged in if you'd like some help
edialeda
Yes black_villian he is really that good. Gets proper stuck in and can deliver killer balls. The Future is definitely still bright and he'll be a shining light I'm sure of it.

Cant wait for this lad to be back, will be a brilliant player hppefully, we could do with him in the midfield now.

Im concerned that at his age a knee problem like this can ruin your career. Look at owen and king and laursen and hargreaves. Just hope he makes a full recovery....
Astonvillionaire
yeah i am concerned about him getting such an injury at such a young age too very few recover from these kinder injuries a player is never usually the same after them and he certainly will loose pace. i cant wait to see him though also can anyone compare him to a player so i have an idea of how he plays? and where would you rate him with regards to milner or even barry?
black_villian
I'd perhaps compare him to a young roy keane. Full of energy but has the skill, the vision and the range of passing to do something with the ball once he's won it.
lorenzo
he seems the complete midfielder then?
black_villian
Mr Delph... take your time, come back good and just go on to be a 'Villa Legend'

edialeda what is that about mate? If you / Domingo need help, just email me astonvilla@vitalfootball.co.uk if you need passwords re-set etc.

I watched him in some of the cup games and the one prem match he did play and his ability to pass the ball form the middle out to the wings reminded me a bit of beckham. His passes seem to cut through the air and always land at feet or around torso height. Quite alot of the villa players seem to make predictable but Delph has the ability to pick a pass to a player that the opposing team doesn't usually expect.

I am a massive Delph fan, purely based on the scant amount of game time I've seen him have at Villa Park and the lasting impression the few glimpses of genius he demonstrated left on me - a quick turn with a boost of pace taking him away from two centre mids, a footballing brain enabling him to pick out intelligent, penetrating passes, and importantly for a midfielder, an eye for goal we're missing with Milner gone. Providing he comes through this injury well, he could be a huge boost to us for the run in to the end of this season, and then an integral part of Houlliers Villa side thorugh the coming seasons. Houllier was the guy responsible for bringing through a few key young players at Liverpool so he doesn't shirk away from throwing them to the mix - good signs for the likes of Bannan, Delfouneso, and Delph himself.

Yeah hate it when it happands to one of our peospects hopefully he will be stronger for it i like him he has a bit of okey cokey style pace and he has a decent shot on him and great passer, all the Fabian with your recovery hope to see ya back soon and developing into the next stevie G i think
ClivetheVillan
like a new signing!

Really excellent news. Can't wait till he's back and able to start to develop and settle in. The little we saw pre the injury seemed to suggest great things.
