'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Collins Cheers Classy Carlos Cuellar

James Collins has hailed the performance of Carlos Cuellar in our match against Wolves, describing it as a defensive masterclass.

Cuellar was certainly in fine form as he replaced the injured Richard Dunne for the derby and there's not really a lot I can add about his performance, the fact he is only one percent behind Emile in our Man of the Match poll shows everyone saw the performance for what it was.

Thankfully, Collins has a little bit more to say than me though in his interview on the Official Site.

'Carlos was superb and I thought he did really well. We knew it was going to be tough and that they were always going to throw things in the box and make life difficult for us.

'I thought we defended very well and came away with a good win.'

Collins also added that the way we played in the first half is exactly how Houllier wants to see us play, and it's the way the players themselves enjoy playing so over the coming weeks we should see more consistent performances along those lines.

Not a big Carlos fan I'm afraid, but I cant argue that yesterday witnessed one of his better performances in a claret and blue shirt. He and James Collins played a huge part in securing the victory. They were heavily involved in the action throughout the ninety minutes, and formed an impressive barrier to help thwart the Wolves.
