Sidwell Wishes Midfielder Speedy Recovery

Following the announcement that Wolves midfielder Adlene Guedioura will face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a fractured tibia, Stevie Sidwell has wished him a full and speedy recovery.

The Wolves player was injured very late in the game in a crunching tackle that earnt Sidders a yellow card.

Speaking on the Official Site Sidwell insisted that there was no malice intended and he passed on his regards to Guedioura.

'I wish Adlene well and I hope he makes a quick and full recovery. I went in to play the ball with no malice whatsoever, my intent was purely to play the ball and I'd just like to say again that I wish him all the best in his recovery.'

Nice words from Sidwell and to be honest you'd have to be pretty daft to suggest there was any intent in the tackle. It was just a hard crunching one that on another day the player would've soon got back up.

There were certainly one or two far more tasty challenges in the game that warranted yellows, yet went unpunished.

Guedioura will likely be out for about 5 months and looking at the Wolves site he's going to be in a full leg cast for 4 weeks before moving onto a part weight bearing cast afterwards.

The good news is their consultant has said it's an uncomplicated fracture, and their medical department describe that, in the circumstances, as being as good as it gets.

Didn't look that bad a challenge when I witnessed it first hand at the game on Sunday, and I haven't as yet seen a replay on the box. Maybe it was a bit clumsy, but it certainly didn't look in any way malicious. Sidders though does seem to pick up the yellows for these rash challenges.
