Bring The Buzz Back To Villa Park!!!
Aston Villa FC. Known for one of the most loyal and vocal group of away supporters the Premier League has. Every time I watch us play away from home then we seem to out sing the opposition home crowd for most of the game whether it's at the Britannia, Anfield, Old Trafford, The Emirates, St James's, Wembley, etc. It makes me wonder if our away support is so good why is the atmosphere in Villa Park almost dead at times this season?
Before people say, 'We will start going again when we start playing well, then the atmosphere will pick up,' that is rubbish. The team shouldn't have to WOW us before we start making some noise! A large majority of Villa fans have not been to VP yet this year; our attendances show it. Even if VP is not sold-out then I see no reason why the 35,000 fans at the Bolton game could not create a bit of buzz around the place.
VP is a big stadium, we have a large fan base and now we have a new man in charge, the tickets lately have been slashed right down to £10 a ticket! On Saturday VP should have been absolutely rocking! But I would imagine if you count the number of fans that actually attempted to join in with the chants then you would not count past 6,000. Our support should always be heard every single home game but a lot of you are not turning up, and some of those who are may as well have paid for your ticket and stayed at home if you're not going to make some noise!
If we create an atmosphere then it motivates the players and they will pick up the pace; something we were definitely missing against Bolton. To say we are missing the 12th man is a massive understatement! What do we need to do to get people singing? Any of you got any ideas because I have no clue why some of you turn up to Villa to just sit there and the only time you open your mouths is when you moan about the team or hurl abuse towards the referee. Why not stand up and start joining in with the chants? We have yet to sing a chant for Gerard Houllier at VP, why?
Why shouldn't we be capable of getting VP making more noise than any other stadium in the Premiership? We should make teams travelling to VP nervous at the thought of playing in front of the Holte End! Randy gave us all free scarves and claret and blue flags to create a great atmosphere and it really worked so why don't you bring them to the ground?
Do we need an anthem at Villa? That is something we are seriously missing I admit and I really hope the club get it sorted soon. Although what would be the point in having an anthem if people don't sing?
Wednesday is the Carling Cup match against Blackburn, it's Houllier's first game and it's not on TV yet still we are expecting a crowd way below 25,000. That is pathetic!
I'm a season ticket holder and I will attend every home league and cup game and will sing at every match. Why can't others do similar? I do think we need a few important things changed: · An Aston Villa anthem before every match? - Many fans have wanted one for a long time! · Organising some of the supporters to get a band in place? - England often plays boring football at Wembley but the band gets the fans singing all game every game. · Have the club increase promotions to attract fans to bring their Villa scarves and flags to every game and bring a similar experience to the Holte End that they have in the Kop? A simple question for the Villa fans to answer, why won't you sing?
For those who do then fair play, but an improvement needs to be made. We need to get VP rocking again because so far this season the majority of our support has been awful! Hopefully more will buy tickets to welcome Houllier but please, come back to VP and make your support heard! After the atmosphere against Vienna, most of the Everton game and Bolton it is obvious we need more fans watching at the ground instead of from the pub or at home.
Time to support the team!
