Aston Villa have released an official statement concerning the shirt shenanigans which have been a source of anger for many fans. No Need To Get Shirty
Houllier - Owen - Villa... 2+2= ? Full link: Michael Owen Linked With Aston Villa (Again!)
Oh, the 2+2 = 4 in this case. Houllier has said he has an interest! With regards to Michael Owen Houllier also said to Canal+ that having seen him at the Jamie Carragher testimonial, he thinks Owen is still more than fit enough to compete at the highest level. 'I like him, he has always been in my thoughts. 'I saw Michael play a half of football, he still has the legs for it.'
Also.. Speaking to Canal+ pre taking the Villa Park reigns Gerard Houllier has given a few well placed comments given the recent speculation about his 'first signings'. Fitness coach Robert Duverne of French World Cup meltdown fame quit his role with Aries-Avignon earlier this week, leading to thoughts that he would team up with Houllier at B6. Although it's hardly a confirmation in the usual sense, Houllier said simply: 'He is competent, and we are in contact.' Full article: Houllier Confirms Owen and Duverne Interest
Little bit of weekend press talk about our new manager Gerard Houllier. Alan Nixon of The People claims that Gary McAllister will say yes to the offer to become Houlliers assistant at Villa. Another says he had his heart checked before taking the job and he also says there are funds + he'll hopefully play a more technical game. Full details: Houllier Press Talk + McAllister Coming?
As we've mentioned several times on this site, Graham Taylor has been raising money for The Royal British Legion. I was able to have a quick chat with Sir Graham the other day. He said:'I completed the London to Paris cycle ride between September 2nd and 6th. It was a fantastic four days with about another 260 people. Having cycled 80 miles from London to Dover on the first day, the second day was extremely hard with the same number of miles but some hills thrown in as well. However, having got through that the third and fourth days were more manageable even allowing for saddle soreness of the highest order. The French people were brilliant in their welcoming and the walk up to the Arc de Triomphe carrying a wreath to the tomb of the unknown soldier was one of the most emotional things I have been involved in.' Fieldy: Captain Petrov has called on Villa's 12th man to make Villa Park a cauldron of noise this weekend as we go for another home 3 pointer. Speaking on the Official Site as we all build towards Gerard Houllier's first proper Villa Park appearance, Petrov commented that previous good results against Bolton in recent years would count for very little this weekend and the team cannot go into the match thinking the points are secure. 'It's a tough game, we need to be at out very best if we want to win the match and take all three points. People will talk about past results but those results count for nothing.' Fieldy: Houllier Confirmed - Kev Mac Has A Taste That headline didn't quite come out as planned! It sounds like Kevin MacDonald may have caught the managerial bug after all. The club have confirmed to the media today that Gerard Houllier will take charge of the team officially following the Bolton clash this weekend, having completed the commitments he wished to honour for the FFF. In other news Kevin has again spoken honestly about the situation he found himself in and it does sound like he might well have the managerial bug now. Houllier Confirmed - Kev Mac Has A Taste
Fieldy: Stan Collymore has said Richard Dunne and James Collins will have to be at their best to keep Bolton and Kevin Davies quiet this weekend. Speaking to the Official Site the former Villan said the key to all 3 points for Villa would simply be in keeping Kevin quiet, as everything for Bolton goes through him.
