Club Aware Of Traffic Issues Leaving Villa Park

Ok... well, I'm still juggling all the bits and feedback ready for the Bolton game Supporters Consultation Meeting (more in next article)

One issue brought up as a suggestion by sjjlatham was:

Whats going on with the traffic management leaving the ground? I drive up from london for each home game and the hassle I had getting away for the last game last season and the first game this was horrendous. I park in one of the car parks on (*I think*) Aston Hall Road and it used to be 10 mins after getting in my car I'd be on the M6. Its been close to an hour the last two times as the road has been left 2 way rather than 2 way as it used to be.

Now I won't be able to bring this up at the SCG as there are others that have got more repeat suggestions so I cheated and went to our very nice Football Operations / Projects Manager Lee Preece with the feedback/question.

Lee has kindly responded:

'We are aware of the issues being experienced at present. The traffic management is usually carried out by special constables working for Queens Road Police station. We understand that the police are experiencing staffing issues at present and are doing the best they can. Both the police and the club are aware of the importance of the traffic management and the impact it has on the matchday experience. It is not something we can staff ourselves, but we continue to liaise with the police to encourage a return to the usual modus operandi.'

Hopefully that helps a little and also shows how willing this club is to give feedback and take suggestions when put to them.

Thanks for bringing that up - its a relief to know its being looked at. Might prevent me murdering my 10 and 8 year old boys who show a massive amount of patience when we are stuck in traffic. If it wasn't for the soothing tones of talksport... I did notice that people were (understandably) more interested in getting the 2nd screen back than my traffic woes, so bringing it up via this other route is appreciated.
